1. When/Who got you started playing golf? I used to caddy for my grandfather in Jackson, Miss. when I was a kid. I would take the 7 iron out of his bag and swing it. He was a lefty and that is how I ended up being a left-handed golfer. I do everything else right handed. That was back in the 60’s 2. What was your very first set of clubs? I had a set of Spalding Executives. Back in the day it was really hard to find left hand clubs. th 3. What is your most memorable moment in golf? Holing out from the fairway on the 18 hole at Pukalani Golf Course in Maui to shoot 79. The best score of my life. 4. What is your favorite golf destination you have played? Kauai (The Makai course in Princeville and Poipu Bay) 5. What course would you like to play but have not? Pebble Beach 6. What is something interesting about your family, golf or otherwise? I have two sons. Brandon is a teacher in Frisco ISD and plays to a 0 handicap. He played baseball for Texas A&M and San Diego State. He was drafted on two separate occasions in the MLB Draft. Victor Jr. is a Commander in the Navy and an astronaut currently assigned to NASA. He was an F-18 Super Hornet pilot prior to being selected for the astronaut program in 2013. He will be heading to the International Space Station next year. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Jennette, for 37 years and we have 5 granddaughters. 7. What would be your dream foursome? Me, Tiger Woods and my two sons. 8. What is something interesting that nobody knows about you? I am actually blind in my left eye from an on the job injury in 1983 when I was a police officer. As a result, I have terrible depth perception so I always have to have my GPS watch on the golf course☺. 9. Favorite Music/go to Karaoke song? I enjoy smooth jazz and R&B. No karaoke for me, I would scare everybody away. 10. What actor would play you in a bio-pic of your life? Denzel Washington 11. If you could own any car, what would it be? Convertible Bentley Continental GT 12. If you were on the PGA Tour, what clothing brand would we see you sporting? Nike 13. What is in your golf bag? Clubs/Balls? Ping G400 Driver, Ping G30 3-wood, Ping G25 hybrid, Ping G25 Irons 4 – 9, PW and UW. Callaway RTX Wedges. Titleist Pro V1x golf balls. 14. Who is your favorite PGA/LPGA player? PGA - Tiger Woods, LPGA – Cheyenne Woods 15. Any golf superstitions? I have a lot of ball markers but I tend to always play with my “lucky” NASA coin that was given to me by my son. .

President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. And while we may not yet have a grasp on when things may “return to normal,” it has been quite a blessing to have golf in our lives. It’s one recreational activity that has adapted well to the safety protocols that COVID-19 has forced us to implement, and I offer a hearty congratulations to the many Troon facility teams across the country and around the world for their terrific efforts in keeping us all safe while we enjoy the game we love. For me, at least, playing golf has allowed a sense of normalcy in an otherwise challenging time. Professional golf has also seen a very successful return from its spring hiatus. The PGA TOUR’s young stars have been shining brightly. What a memorable win for Team Troon member Justin Thomas at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational!
