A Comprehensive Guide to Troon- Managed Courses Worldwide FACILITIES DIRECTORY 2020 kapalua ballenisles country club A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO TROON- MANAGED COURSES WORLDWIDE dumbarnie golf links wickenburg ranch golf & social club 1 2 3 4 n From the Desk of Tim Schantz Thanks for Some Normal I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a strange and stressful year. And while we may not yet have a grasp on when things may “return to normal,” it has been quite a blessing to have golf in our lives. It’s one recreational activity that has adapted well to the safety protocols that COVID-19 has forced us to implement, and I offer a hearty congratulations to the many Troon facility teams across the country and around the world for their terrific efforts in keeping us all safe while we enjoy the game we love. For me, at least, playing golf has allowed a sense of normalcy in an otherwise challenging time. Professional golf has also seen a very successful return from its spring hiatus. The PGA TOUR’s young stars have been shining brightly. What a memorable win for Team Troon member Justin Thomas at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational! What an honor to be associated with all of our Team Troon members: Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, Patrick Cantlay and Matt Kuchar of the United States, Alex Noren of Sweden, Matthew Fitzpatrick of England, LPGA Tour/Ladies European Tour player Cheyenne Woods of the United States, and our newest member, Golf Hall of Famer/Champions Tour player Colin Montgomerie. The last few months have made me that much more appreciative of all the good that golf brings to my life. I hope the same is true for you. See you at a Troon course soon! President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. As always, if you want to reach me to discuss anything, please send me an email at roger.laime@aecom or call me on my cell phone at 518-772-7754. Please be considerate of others, be safe and think warm weather. Roger Laime Treasurer’s Report June 15th, 2020 I want all of our members to be aware, especially our newer members that you will see a bunker renovation fee on your July invoice. This is our final year of our 5 year bunker renovation project as Steve and his staff have recently completed #13. The fee will be 3% of dues for your membership category.

President’s Message March 2019 When you are at a gathering of folks you don’t know, what do you talk about? The weather, of course. Well unfortunately that topic remains pervasive among golf course owners and operators. And save a couple of short-term exceptions, our weather could not be worse. Again we are way ahead on precipitation and we can’t catch a break to capture much revenue. You would think that roulette ball would land on a black number after 10 straight red numbers! As golf course owners and operators, it is critical that we have a business and political climate that is fair and balanced in allowing us to operate our courses. Today’s political landscape is challenging to say the least, and our goal is to make sure that our elected officials are informed about our industry, so they can make good decisions when they involve the business that is our livelihood. Golf not only supports us and our families, it is crucial to our fellow workers, employees and millions of Americans that enjoy the fun and healthy experience of golf. To this end, I will be traveling on May 1 of this year with our Executive Golf Golf Director David Norman to Washington, DC for National Golf Day. We will join a group of hundreds of members of the golf community in our continuing effort to provide relevant information to the members of Congress that form the backbone of our governing process. But as we lament, it’s time to make our own luck.
