The Harvest Plan Standard Conditions for Hardwood Forest Operations in Eden apply to this operation. Prepared By: Julia Clark Approved By: Lee Blessington Harvest Planning Planner Supervisor Signature Julia Clark Signature Lee Blessington Date 23.04.2015 Date 23.04.2015 Note: Approval includes the Harvest Plan Operational Map (HPOM) with the corresponding approval date displayed on the map, verifying final approved version. Other maps included with this plan are Locality, Forest Type, Habitat quality class (Production Assistant and indicative) and Cultural Heritage (limited distribution). Description of Proposal Harvesting of hardwood forest (a) Integrated Harvesting of Hardwood Forest: Mixed-age stands dominated by a commercially mature overstorey will be harvested to create regeneration opportunities through integrated harvesting of sawlogs and pulpwood with the retention of trees for future sawlogs, fauna habitat, seed trees, visual maintenance and soil and water protection. (b) Integrated Harvesting of Crown Timber Land: The adjacent crown lands, Lot 146 (DP756826), Lot 262 (DP756826) and Lot 7001 (DP92713) will be harvested in conjunction with Compartment 1354 in accordance with the Integrated Forestry Operations Approval. The NSW Trade & Investment – Crown Land Department has been notified of FCNSW’s intention to harvest these areas. Lot 146 (DP756826) has a lease interest attached. The owner of this lease has also been notified of the proposed harvesting. Lot 7001 (DP92713) is Trig Reserve with a trig site located on the northern section of this lot. The trig site is within excluded forest. For the purpose of sawlog coding for Australian Forest Standard, the crown timber land areas are not Defined Forest Area. (c) Thinning of Crown Timber Land: Predominantly even-age stands will be mechanically thinned from the side to reduce the number of competing stems and concentrates the growth potential onto the remaining stand. This operation will be licensed under the EPL with notification sent to the regulatory authorities as per clause 23 of Integrated Forestry Operations Approval (IFOA). Attachment 1: Site Safety Plan prescribes safety requirements and Medical Emergency Evacuation Plan for this harvesting operation. • 2012 Gippsland Flood Event - Review of Flood Warnings and Information Systems
2012 Gippsland Flood Event - Review of Flood Warnings and Information Systems TRIM ID: CD/12/522803 Date: 21 November 2012 Version: Final OFFICE of the EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMISSIONER Page i MINISTERIAL FOREWORD In early June this year, heavy rain and widespread flooding affected tens of thousands of Victorians across the central and eastern Gippsland region. The damage to towns and communities was widespread – particularly in the Latrobe City, Wellington and East Gippsland municipalities. Homes, properties and businesses were damaged, roads and bridges were closed, and more than 1500 farmers were impacted by the rains. A number of people were rescued after being trapped or stranded by the rising waters. Following the floods, some communities had a perception that telephone-based community warnings and information had failed them. As the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, I requested Victoria’s Emergency Services Commissioner to review the effectiveness, timeliness and relevance of the community information and warnings. This report has met my expectations and has identified the consequences and causes for the public’s perception. I welcome the review’s findings. I am confident these will, in time, lead to better and more effective arrangements for community information and warnings and contribute to a safer and more resilient Victoria. The water supply for the town of Bombala is sourced from an impoundment on the Coolumbooka River to the north of Bombala township which has a capacity of 245 megalitres. It is proposed to expand this water storage facility by extending the impoundment for a length of approximately 2.7 to 2.8 kilometres from the existing impoundment of the Coolumbooka River into the Bombala River and extending to a new weir to be constructed between Caveat and Young Streets adjacent the town centre.
