reading group Alice Cowley autumn term 2019 Week 1 to Week 8 @ bpf Kilburn Thursdays 6.30 - 8.00pm 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st October (break for half term on 7th November), 14th, 21st, 28th November & 5th December 2019. Welcome to the reading group. For those of you who are new to psychoanalysis, you would very much benefit from reading some introductory literature. I recommend: Malan, David H, Individual Psychotherapy and the Science of Psychodynamics, 2nd or 3rd Ed (Hodder Arnold Publication), Chapters 1 and 2. Lemma, Alessandra. (2016) Introduction to the Practice of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. 2nd Ed. (Wiley Blackwell) Chapter 2. Lemma provides and overview of clinical concepts and this provides the basis for the weekly reading. The chapters by Malan are there to facilitate the understanding of Lemma. They are relatively easy to read and will provide an insight into the clinical application of the theory. Sophina will be able to send you an electronic copy of these chapters on request. the weekly reading: Sigmund Freud (1913) On Beginning the Treatment.
