Some of our regular traders will be there – they like us – and there will be others as well. In May we introduced the extra element of a Car Boot Sale for the same day (£5 each, pay on the day and arrive at 11.30am) Lots of people visit us on these days – if YOU haven’t yet visited one of our Palgrave Village Markets – why not? As well as beautiful craft items (pottery, needlework, photography, garden furniture etc ) we can show you marmalades, jams, chutneys and also lovely fresh vegetables and fruit etc from Stuston Farm Shop right here in Palgrave Community Centre. Indeed, if you live in Palgrave, the Community Centre is right on your doorstep and this is an event well worth visiting. Why not arrange to meet friends there and enjoy time spent in our ‘coffee shop’. PALGRAVE GARAGE SALES (May) This event is obviously history now but deserves a mention in this edition of the Star. Over twenty residents in Palgrave opened their garages to sell things surplus to their requirements. It was a sunny May day and visitors flocked to the village from well before the start time of 9 a.m. and that continued for several hours. People visiting the Community Centre for refreshments were relating tales of the bargains they had found while the organizers had to send out for more edible supplies. Most visitors seemed to come from other villages round and about and we heard comments admiring and praising Palgrave village and our Community Centre. Thank you to all who took part and to Helen in particular for organizing the event. Anyone who had items left over – please think about having a car boot at the Community Centre in June or July – only £5 a pitch. Anyone wishing to advertise in the Star please contact Helen Thorburn 01379 651749 [email protected] JUMBLE SALE 23rd June 2.00pm Palgrave Community Centre Admission 20p Jumble may be left at the Community Centre from 9.30am on the morning Palgrave & District Community Council Registered Charity 269132 Palgrave Star JUNE 2012 Palgrave Summer Fete- Sunday 22nd July Do you remember the Village Fete last year when the Suffolk Kite Flyers attended? Despite their valiant efforts, there was disappointingly not enough wind for showing off the kites that day. However, the kite workshop for children indoors was good and popular. Well – we have invited the kite flyers back for Sunday 22nd July when, although we want a sunny warm day, we hope there will be enough wind high up to keep those marvellous modern kites in the air – and children can have fun making kites for themselves. We will also have music for all tastes from De Ja Vue; refreshments of all sorts and games and competitions which are always popular. In order to run these games we do need prizes and this is where YOU come in. There will be a collection around the village from 10th July. Please please find something for us which could be used as a prize for a game, for the tombola or for the raffle. If you miss the collectors or are not actually resident in the village we suggest you contact the person who delivers your Star (he or she must live near you and would be able to collect). Also if you would like to take a turn in running a game or helping by donating/making cakes etc please contact any of our committee (you will find phone numbers elsewhere in the Star). And then come to the Community Centre on Sunday 22nd July – and have fun! Tea and coffee will be provided also squash for the children. The Community Centre Bar will be open for the sale of other drinks. This is an outside event, good weather has been ordered but, it is often chilly on the field so please wear appropriate clothing.
