FIELD AGENT REPORT Ask Eligible Men To Join

Today, I want to address the growth of the Order. Membership growth is the fuel that keeps this great frater- nal engine running. All of our charitable works at the council, state, national and international level are thanks to our hard-working members. And more members equals more charity.

We know that the membership blitz is a tried and true way for councils to get more men to join. We see these pushes often in March, in celebration of Founder’s Day, and again in October. These drives are successful because brother Knights have increased visibility speaking or presenting during and after Masses and at spe- cial events. We must remember that we have a duty to ask each and every Catholic gentleman to join our ranks for the good of the Church, the community and the Order.

During the rest of the year, we often “forget” to ask men to join and to bring their families into the Knights of Columbus family. You probably know an eligible Catholic man you could ask today. What if the only reason he hasn’t joined is because no one has asked him yet?

When telling a prospect about the strengths of the Order, don’t forget our greatest fraternal benefit: our insur- ance program. This is often a “selling point” to a potential member who is on the fence. Many members be- come Knights simply to be able to buy coverage to protect their family. Soon after, they realize the good our charitable works do for their community, and they are proud to be members.

As your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent, I look forward to helping us grow in fraternity in any way that I can.

Martin Alordzinu, Field Agent 571 398 4025 Martin.alordzinu@ kofc.org KC LADIES MIMOSA BRUNCH MEMOIRS Page 3 PROGRAM DIRECTOR’S REPORT Brothers,

We had a good month for November. I pray you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. We supported the Harvest Bazaar. KCIC sales started, and will continue through Christmas. We conducted the Adopt-A-Highway cleanup that was moved from October due to the bad weather. Our Council held our annual Memorial Mass to remember all our Brothers, KC Ladies, and Squires that have passed before us. The month closed out with the delivery of our Christmas trees and we started selling the trees immediately. Thank you for all the hard work and ensuring our events were successful.

In December, we will continue our KCIC and Christmas tree sales. Our Council continues to get into the Christmas spirit by holding our Adult Christmas Party on 8 Dec, Children’s Christmas Party on 9 Dec and then Breakfast with Santa will be on 16 Dec. Our Meeting on 19 Dec is an open meeting; we will have a choir performing for us and will have a reception afterwards. On 30 Dec we will conduct the 5th Sunday Rosary at Holy Family. The month will close out with our New Year’s Eve Party on 31 Dec at the Council home. May the Lord bless you and your loved ones this Christmas Season. Be safe if you are traveling and remem- ber to keep Christ in Christmas.

The exhibit, according to the museum's website, features more than 100 items. While some come from the museum’s own collection, there are crèches from the Glencairn Museum in Pennsylvania, and the Interna- tional Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton in Ohio.

Also included are items from the Loyola University Museum of Art in Illinois, New Mexico's Museum of Inter- national Folk Art, Museo del Presepio of Rome/Italian Friends of the Crèche Association and private collec- tors.

The exhibit, which opened Saturday, November 17, runs through Sunday, February 3. If you're in New Eng- land during the Christmas season, you might give some thought to stopping in at the Knights of Columbus Museum at One State Street in New Haven.

THE POWER OF PRAYER by Bob Rouleau

Mk 11: 24 - "I give you my word, if you are ready to believe that you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer, it shall be done for you."

Just think! If ALL the Knights and their families from our Council and our Assembly were to take a moment to pray for those who are “Sick or in Distress”, wouldn’t this awesome power produce results? After all, GOD SAID IT WOULD! So I ask all of you to call me, (703) 670-6423, e-mail me, [email protected] or tell me in person the names of individuals and/or families who are in need of prayer, whether sick or in distress, and I will include them in this list. (“Distress” means death in the family, out of work, having financial, marital or oth- er “personal” problems either at home or at work.) Contact me by using any of the following methods: e-mail me, [email protected]; call me, (703)670-6423; tell me in person or use the Council web page at WWW.kofcknights.org/CouncilSite/?CNO=7165. 2018 CHRISTMAS TREE SALES John Paul I Council will once again hold its annual Christmas Tree sales in the Council Home parking lot. Sales will start Friday November 30th and should end by Sunday December 16th. Our trees will again be the same high quality of Fraser Fir trees. In the past years, the trees just about sold themselves, and we are ex- pecting that to be the case again this year. However, we do need help in collecting money from people, carry- ing the tree to their vehicle and adding new trees to the racks. Weekday sales will be from 4PM to 8PM (Friday to 3-9PM), Saturday’s will be from 9AM to 8PM and Sundays will remain from 10AM to 7PM. If you are not contacted to help in selling, please email to [email protected]. Free coffee or hot choco- late will be available at all times for sellers. There is, as always, special pricing for members of John Paul I. The trees sell quickly so we encourage you to purchase your tree early to ensure that you get the tree of your choice. Thanks for your participation in our annual Christmas tree program.

As you may have heard in the news there is a nationwide shortage of Fraser Fir Christmas trees and the quantities available to sell are very low and prices have gone up significantly. Many tree stands and nurseries have not been able to get the trees that they want to sell. The good news is that we have secured our normal high quality trees and despite a cost increase of 45%-50% we are only raising our prices $5-$10. We are keeping our prices as low as possible to make sure we keep our customers coming back year after year. Please come out and support the Council and buy a tree. Page 8

OVERSEAS COUPON PROGRAM Jim Limbach, PGK, FDD, PFN

The Sir Knights of Father Edward L. Richardson SMA Assembly #3174 of the Fourth Degree thank you for your support of the Overseas Coupon Program in which we periodically send cou- pons to Wiesbaden Army Base in Wiesbaden, Germany, for use at post and base exchanges, and commissaries. We continue to solicit your contribution of MANUFACTURER'S coupons (both food and non-food). A couple of guidelines:  Manufacturer's coupons only. No restaurants, grocery stores, etc.  Pay attention to expiration dates. Coupons used on the base are good for six (6) months after the expira- tion date.  Please separate the coupons into “food” and “non-food” categories. If you eat or drink it for a meal or snack, it's food. Vitamins, medical products, etc., are non-food.  Due to overwhelming volume, coupons that are not separated into the proper categories will NOT be ac- cepted.

During calendar year 2017, we sent nearly $60,000 in coupons to help our folks in uniform, and are running well ahead of that pace this year. Please continue to help with this good work. Knights of Columbus
