    School… …News By Jack The wild west trip 2019 was a successful trip during the October holidays. Some of the places they go to is the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Hollywood. S2s-S6s get to go on the wild west trip every year and Mr MacDonald runs the trip. It requires a passport and you’ll also need to pay for the trip. Staff like Mr MacDonald, Mrs Dey, Mrs McClymont, Mr Meikle and Mrs McLaren go on the trip. You’ll also need permission from your parents/guardians if you want to go on it. I’ve never been on the trip myself but I heard it’s amazing and you should go on it! The school building was built in 1969 so we celebrated 50 years of the school with events like the open day. Pupils and teachers from the past and present sent books, school magazines, old photos and art and even the original plans to the school. It was great looking at all the old stuff. The Young Carers group invIted comedian Russell Howard unveiled to come to Mackie and he said YES! He unveiled a special fundraising wall highlighting awareness of the role young carers play in the school community. Russell, who was a young carer, himself, signed the wall and siad it was a privelige to meet the young carers.
