ÖZ Amaç: Bu çalışma Erzincan ilinde Demodex folliculorum ve Demodex brevis yaygınlığı ve yoğunluğunu belirlemek, ayrıca cildin nem, pH ve ısısı ile Demodex spp. arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya koymak amacıyla yapıldı. Yöntemler: Çalışmaya Erzincan ilinde ikamet eden, herhangi bir dermatolojik hastalığı olmayan, rastgele seçilmiş 300 katılımcı alındı. Katı- lımcıların cilt nemi, cilt pH’sı ve cilt ısısı ölçülerek yanak, nazolabiyal ve çene bölgelerinden Standart Yüzeyel Deri Biyopsi (SYDB) yöntemi ile örnekler alındı ve ışık mikroskobunda incelendi. Bulgular: Çalışmada D. folliculorum yaygınlığı %61,3 (ortalama 14,3/cm2), D. brevis yaygınlığı ise %23,3 (ortalama 3,2/cm2) olarak belirlendi. Demodex spp. enfestasyonun en fazla yanakta olduğu (ortalama 10,4/cm2), bunu sırasıyla nazolabiyal (ortalama 7,2/cm2) ve çene bölgesinin (ortalama 6,6/cm2) izlediği tespit edildi (p<0,001). Demodex spp.’nin cildi kuru (ortalama 11,6/cm2), cilt pH’sı 5,5-7,0 (ortalama 11,2/cm2) ve cilt ısısı 20°C-23°C (ortalama 13,1/cm2) arasında olanlarda daha yoğun olduğu belirlendi. Diğer taraftan katılımcılardan öğrenim seviyesi düşük, 60 yaş üstü, erkek ve evli olanlarda Demodex spp. -

www.biodicon.com Biological Diversity and Conservation ISSN 1308-8084 Online; ISSN 1308-5301 Print 8/3 (2015) 223-247 Research article/Araştırma makalesi Floristical diversity and endemic plants of Çayırlı district (Erzincan/Turkey) Mustafa KORKMAZ *1 Erzincan Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü, Erzincan, Turkey Abstract In this study, we investigated the flora of Çayırlı district of Erzincan province located in Eatern Anatolia region of Turkey, on intersection point of Euro-Siberian and Irano-Turanian phytogeographical regions and in the square B7. Field surveys were conducted in the district in 2011-2013 vegetation periods and many plant samples were collected. After that, herbarium and identification works were completed. As a result, it was determined that there are 591 species and subspecies belonging to 255 genera and 67 families. From these taxa, 5 taxa belons to Pteridophyta and 584 to Spermatophyta divisions. From the taxa belons to Spermatophyta division, 2 belons to Gymnospermae and 582 to Angiospermae subdivisions. From the subdivision of Angiospermae, 514 taxa (88 %) belons to Dicotyledoneae and 70 (12 %) to Monocotyledoneae classes. The distribution of plant taxa according to phytogeographical regions are given as Irano-Turanian 234 (39,59 %), Euro-Siberian 65 (11,99 %) and Mediterranean 21 (3,55 %). Multi regional and the regions are not defined 271 (45,85 %). Totaly 139 taxa are endemic to Türkiye and the ratio of endemism is 23, 52 %. The number of rare plants is 12 (%2,03). The order of five families genera having the biggest taxa are as follow; Asteraceae 84 (14,21 %), Lamiaceae 54 (9,13 %), Caryophyllaceae 44 (7, 45 %), Fabaceae 43 (7,28 %) and Brassicaceae 38 (6,43 %). -

Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education, Science Education Department, Ankara / 06410, TURKEY Abstract The goal of Kemaliye (Erzincan) Ecology-Based Nature Education Project is to give education people whose job is or is going to be training broad masses of the society about the observing components of nature with their senses, exploring living and unliving entities in their habitats and reflecting their theoretical knowledge on nature to their practices. The participations of the research were, research assistants of universities, teachers, Ph.D. and M.A. students, under graduate students, those working at related institutions is considered appropriate. Participants were attend the research for 9 days during the project program as two different groups (N:60). 19 ecology based nature education activities were involved in project. Three open ended questions were asked to participants to get their suggestion and criticism about the changes in their lives because of the project and how they will spread their gained knowledge and experience. Data obtained from their answers are analyzed by using qualitative research method with inductive analysis. At the end of the project, themes which were related to the sharing the knowledge and increasing awareness (f :16) and reflecting professional environment and life (f:29) are the result of the study. -

Religious and linguistic minorities among the Kurds have often had an ambivalent relationship with the Kurdish movement and with Kurdish identity. Sunni Muslim speakers of Kurmanji or Sorani too have at times been willing to downplay ethnicity in the name of Muslim brotherhood with dominant Arab or Turkish state elites, but the emphasis on Islam has rarely led them to deny being Kurdish. For the minorities, on the other hand, Kurdish identity has been only one of several possible options, and political conditions have often strongly influenced which identity they prioritised. The Yezidis (Êzîdî) are a case in point: for a long time most Yezidis considered themselves as Kurds and were considered as Kurds by others – in fact it was mostly Yezidis who pioneered modern Kurdish literature and Kurdish broadcasting in Soviet Armenia – but during the past thirty years we could observe a notable move away from Kurdish identity towards a distinct Yezidi ethnicity. -
Geology of Tunceli - Bingöl Region of Eastern Turkey
GEOLOGY OF TUNCELİ - BİNGÖL REGION OF EASTERN TURKEY F. A. AFSHAR Middle East Technical University, Ankara ABSTRACT. — This region is located in the Taurus orogenic belt of the highland district of Eastern Turkey. Lower Permian metasediments and Upper Permian suberystalline limestone are the oldest exposed formations of this region. Lower Cretaceous flysch overlies partly eroded Upper Permian limestone discordantly. The enormous thickness of flysch, tuffs, basaltic - andesitic flows, and limestones constitute deposits of Lower Cretaceous, Upper Cretaceous, and Lower Eocene; the deposits of each of these periods are separated from the others by an unconformity. Middle Eocene limestone is overlain discordantly by Lower Miocene marine limestone which grades upward into lignite-bearing marls of Middle Miocene and red beds of Upper Miocene. After Upper Miocene time, this region has been subjected to erosion and widespread extrusive igneous activities. During Permian this region was part of Tethys geosyncline; in Triassic-Jurassic times it was subjected to orogenesis, uplift and erosion, and from Lower Cretaceous until Middle Eocene it was part of an eugeosyncline. It was affected by Variscan, pre-Gosauan, Laramide, Pyrenean, and Attian orogenies. The entire sedimentary section above the basement complex is intensely folded, faulted, subjected to igneous intrusion, and during five orogenic episodes has been exposed and eroded. INTRODUCTION In the August of 1964 the Mineral Research and Exploration Institute of Turkey assigned the writer to undertake geologic study of the region which is the subject of discussion in this report. This region is located in the highland district of Eastern Turkey, extending from Karasu River in the north to Murat River in the south. -

Zazai Tribe’ Mean Anything About the Origin of Zaza People? (Zazai Aşireti Zazaların Kökeni Hakkında Bir Şeyler Söyleyebilir Mi?)

Rasim BOZBUĞA1 Abstract The main purpose of this paper is to review bibliography and investigate relevant information about Zazai tribe and Zaza people in order to explore pos- sible connection between them. Findings about Zazas and Zazai Pastun tribe indicate that these two groups have strong connection which is more than ha- ving phonological similar names. Moreover, religious, cultural, historical re- semblances point out that these two groups share some mutual characteristics. Indeed, it is strongly possible that these two groups have originated from same ancestors or same areas (i.e. greater Khorasan or Northern Iran). A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to investigate the seroprevalence of C. burnetii in human populations of Erzincan province located in the eastern Turkey, identify the risk factors, and to explore the relationship between geographical features. Methods: A total of 368 people residing in the rural (306) and urban (62) areas of the province were included in the study. Serum samples were analyzed for the presence of C. burnetii phase II IgG antibody using ELISA (Virion/ Serion, Wurzburg, Germany). Spatial analyses were performed to evaluate correlations between seroprevalence and geographical features. Results: The overall seroprevalence of C. burnetii was found to be 8.7% (32/368). In rural residents it was 8.5% (26/306), while in urban population it was 9.7% (6/62). -

As a result of the study carried out on 10 genotypes; fruit weights were found between 198.8 and 366.0 g, seed hardness of the fruit was medium-hard in eight genotypes, hard in two genotypes, aril yield ranged from 58.1 to 70.0% and fruit juice volume was between 63.9 and 135.7 ml. The upper peel color was purple in four genotypes, pink-red in two genotypes, orange-red in one genotype and orange in three genotypes. The bottom peel color is orange-red in seven genotypes and orange in three genotypes. Aril color was dark purple in three genotypes, purple in two genotypes, medium red in two genotypes and pink-red in three genotypes. The acid content was found to be between 0.65 and 1.21% and the amount of total soluable solid (TSS) varied between 15.0 and 21.0%.
