Später folgen San Francisco, New York und Cancun. Direct is published with love in and IAG will Angebote von Level und Vueling verknüpfen https://aviation.direct/iag-will-angebote-von-level-und-vueling-verknuepfen geschlossen. • Consolidation of Airlines in Europe. Potential Acquisition of Norwegian by Easyjet
Consolidation of airlines in Europe. Potential acquisition of Norwegian by EasyJet Dmitrii Ponomarev Dissertation written under the supervision of António Borges de Assunção Dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of requirements for the MSc in Finance, at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, June 2020. Abstract Europe is one of the largest airline markets with a significant share of passengers withing Europe being flown by low-cost carriers, while long-haul passengers are almost entirely transported by traditional flag carriers. While Full-Service airlines have been actively trying to penetrate the low-cost market, Norwegian and some other LCCs entered the long-haul market. As this industry is risky and capital extensive, while also being highly competitive, we may expect a consolidation of European airlines. A merger between the second-largest low-cost carrier in Europe EasyJet and smaller but operating rather unique business model Norwegian would allow a boost of passengers for both airlines, open new markets, and deliver significant revenue and cost synergies especially on the side of struggling to fill their planes and maintain its margins Norwegian, and would create a new second-largest airline in Europe. We expect a transaction between two Airlines to happen in the last quarter of 2020, EasyJet is suggested to pay the premium of 20% over the market price, the total purchase would cost ₤1040m and generate ₤524m in Net Synergies after transaction costs. Suggested financing assumes using existing cash, debt, and stock issuance. The industry is highly dependent on the developments related to the COVID-19 outbreak, therefore we suggest constant revaluation of the deal as long as the new information appears.

  • The Single Market and the Rise of the “European Champions”
The Single Market and the Rise of the ‘European Champions’ Franco Mosconi Jean Monnet Chair in The Economics of European Industry Department of Economics and Management University of Parma 6, V. J. F. Kennedy PARMA 43123 Italy Email: [email protected] Abstract This paper casts light on the “European Champions”, those big players that have capitalized on the opportunities provided by the Single Market. Compared to the “National Champions” of decades that are now long-gone, “European Champions” reflect a much larger change than just a simple variation in adjectives: the entire nature of species has evolved. No longer do these enterprises come into existence at the will of the Prince (Type I, according to our taxonomy); rather, it is now market operations -- i.e. cross border merger and acquisitions (M&As) - that determine their form (Type II). These big players can and must play a relevant role on increasing R&D investments and fostering structural change; In short, firms with the scale and scope needed to compete internationally. JEL Classification: L100, L130, L200, L220 Keywords: European Single Market; Market Structure; R&D; Mergers and Acquisitions. (This version: 15 May 2017) 1 1. Introduction Since its beginnings during the 1940s and 50s at Harvard University, market structures and economic behaviour have been at the center of all studies of Industrial Organization (IO) (Scherer, Ross 1990). The process of European integration, which was going on concomitantly, offers an excellent case-study for understanding growth strategies of enterprises in a market that is growing ever larger and more competitive. The following two sections are dedicated to these two “plots” (section 2) and to their interrelationship (section 3).

November 2020 by Jan Gruber Categories: International, secondnews Die österreichische Level Europe musste im Frühjahr 2020 Insolvenz anmelden. Dabei
