COMMENCEMENT University of Wisconsin-Whitewater December 19, 2020 More than 150 years ago, on April 21, 1868, the state’s second normal school opened its doors to the first class of 48 students and nine faculty members. A progressive spirit guided the development of the institution as it evolved from a normal school, which trained teachers for one-room schools, to Whitewater State Teachers College (1927), Wisconsin State College-Whitewater (1951), Wisconsin State University-Whitewater (1964) and as a member of the 13 four-year institutions in the University of Wisconsin System (1971). Today, UW-Whitewater is a leading comprehensive university serving approximately 11,842 full- and part-time students with 50 undergraduate majors, 13 master’s degree programs, one doctoral degree and one education specialist degree in the colleges of Arts and Communication, Business and Economics, Education and Professional Studies, Integrated Studies, and Letters and Sciences. The university awards more than 2,700 degrees every year. Throughout its history, UW-Whitewater has produced graduates who have actively contributed to the growth of the state and nation. Student learning is the paramount focus of the university’s programs and services. The university takes pride in its regional leadership, national presence and global vision. Many of its academic programs are among the best in the country. 1 Student Speaker Brian Martinez For Brian Martinez, becoming a Warhawk meant finding a place to plant roots. When he visited campus as a transfer student from another Wisconsin university, UW-Whitewater felt like an inclusive family, where everyone belonged — a place that put people first.

  • Dallas (1978 TV Series)
Dallas (1978 TV series) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article is about the original 1978–1991 television series. For the sequel, see Dallas (2012 TV series). Dallas is a long-running American prime time television soap opera that aired from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991, on CBS. The series revolves around a wealthy and feuding Texan family, the Ewings, who own the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork. The series originally focused on the marriage of Bobby Ewing and Pamela Barnes, whose families were sworn enemies with each other. As the series progressed, oil tycoon J.R. Ewing grew to be the show's main character, whose schemes and dirty business became the show's trademark.[1] When the show ended in May 1991, J.R. was the only character to have appeared in every episode. The show was famous for its cliffhangers, including the Who shot J.R.? mystery. The 1980 episode Who Done It remains the second highest rated prime-time telecast ever.[2] The show also featured a "Dream Season", in which the entirety of the ninth season was revealed to have been a dream of Pam Ewing's. After 14 seasons, the series finale "Conundrum" aired in 1991. The show had a relatively ensemble cast. Larry Hagman stars as greedy, scheming oil tycoon J.R. Ewing, stage/screen actressBarbara Bel Geddes as family matriarch Miss Ellie and movie Western actor Jim Davis as Ewing patriarch Jock, his last role before his death in 1981. The series won four Emmy Awards, including a 1980 Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series win for Bel Geddes.

Every Day. YOU, our parents, business leaders, educators and community members, are critical partners in providing every child in our community with exceptional educational opportunities, every day. The funding our District receives from the state is simply not enough. Throughout the country, counties are empowered to decide how much funding to invest in their local education systems. In California, per-pupil funding is determined at the state level. All schools receive funding on a per-pupil basis, and districts with greater numbers of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch, and are English Language Learners receive additional funding. As a result, in 2016/17 MBUSD received roughly $9,600 per student, putting our funding level at the bottom of the state and the country. With an investment of more than $6M from our community, MBEF is able to increase per student spending by nearly 9%. In the 2017/18 school year, donations to MBEF will pay for 73 educators, offering our children music, hands-on science, physical education, stronger math, reading, writing and technology instruction, librarians, and electives like STEM, film and robotics.

Barack Obama President of the United States of America 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 Dear President Obama: We welcome your decision to curtail activity at the proposed Yucca Mountain radioactive waste site and endorse your plan to evaluate the nation's high-level radioactive waste and commercial irradiated fuel programs and policies. We want to be involved in this process and we hope it will be earnest, open, and transparent. In that spirit, we urge you to ask all levels of your Administration to embrace and honor this period of evaluation of nuclear waste policy and ensure that the voices of the public are heard in that evaluation. We represent groups rooted in communities impacted by radioactive waste -- the generation, storage, and potential transportation of this dangerous material, as well as communities that have been targeted for, or currently "host" disposal sites. We are concerned for the health and sustainability of our communities. We are "stakeholders," in the original sense of the word, when it comes to radioactive waste policy. It is deeply disturbing to us that Secretary Chu suggested that the Yucca licensing process might continue - and also that acting DOE Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management Ines Triay recently traveled to a meeting in Georgia at which DOE contractors were urged by her office to pursue irradiated fuel storage and reprocessing -- long before the radioactive waste evaluation has even begun.
