Negotiating the creativity/accountability paradox is difficult for teachers, who are often isolated as they interpret, design, and deliver curriculum in their classrooms. This dissertation introduces and refines a 7-stage process called the Community Creative Collective (3-C) designed to generate solutions to three problems that derive from this paradox. First, narrowing of curriculum inhibits the ability of teachers to generate creative teaching and learning. -

ARSCE’s By John Masterjohn Summer Luncheon Well we made it back from Puerto Vallarta after 17 warm, sunny days with soft breezes. I’m sorry; I heard you all suffered through Wednesday, June 7th endless rain and cold temperatures. Karen always argues that there Reservation form on page 12. can be dry, sunny days in January and February, nice sunrises and sunsets, and then winter comes back in March—making it the best time to get away. She thinks she won the argument. However, it’s always nice to actually see spring with green shoots in Seattle, even with gray skies. Okay, enough about us; now on to ARSCE issues. The seat on the SCERS (Seattle City Employees’ Retirement System) Board for the retired member opened for filing on April 13th and closed on April 27th. More information regarding eligibility and the process for applying W th was on the SCERS website on April 13 , 2017. While we at ARSCE can’t endorse any one candidate, Lou Walter has represented us as the retiree member of the Board for a number of years and I think he has done a great job. Speaking of elections, I want to congratulate the winning candidates who ran for the ARSCE Board along with the alternates. -

Ahrens similarity we're gonna embarrass you a little bit. You are considered the foremost theatrical songwriting team of their generation and that's true. They are. They of course wrote the Tony Award winning score for the musical masterpiece ragtime and began their Broadway career with the irresistible. -

On March 23, 2003, they were taken captive during a gunfight that led to the capture of some and death of others, and were finally rescued by U.S. Marine Corps units 22 days later. Every year, they get together with their families and at the site of a memorial mountain renamed for one of their own, Hopi Lori Ann Piestewa. At Piestewa Peak, Iraqi War POWs, friends, family and fellow veterans gathered for the 10th Anniversary. Neubauer B.S. University of Central Florida, 2008 Committee Chair: Gerald Matthews, Ph.D. ABSTRACT Driver distraction is a leading cause of vehicular accidents (Strayer & Johnston, 2001). There are numerous types of driver distraction, but one type in particular, cell phone use, seems to be exceptionally dangerous to drivers. These ‘newer’, technology-based distractions are more dangerous because they are more cognitively demanding, requiring the driver to manage multiple visual, manual and auditory demands while attempting to remain engaged in the primary task of driving. Additionally, there may be differences in driver performance depending on the type of cell phone usage such as calling back and text messaging. These issues may be conceptualized within models of driver workload. The present study investigated the effects of two relevant workload factors on driver performance: type of phone usage and automation of driving systems. Automation is an emerging trend among automakers that can potentially assist drivers by reducing workload, but recent studies suggest that automation might provoke dangerous states of underload in which effort is withdrawn from the driving task. There may also be individual differences in response to distraction that are linked to personality factors. As predicted from the workload model, the present study found that there are differential effects of talking on a cell phone versus texting, with text messaging shown to be associated with worse vehicle control.
