On March 11th 2014, we will be releasing the soundtrack for the new young adult sci‐fi/action film “Divergent” which will be in theatres nationwide on March 21st.

The soundtrack will feature a brand‐new song by Ellie Goulding, titled “Beating Heart” as well as 4 songs from Goulding’s sophomore album, Halcyon and a new song from Zedd titled “Find You featuring Miriam Bryant & Matthew Komo”. The film is based on the bestselling novel Divergent by Veronica Roth and hailed as the most highly anticipated movie of 2014 by social media research firm Fizziology. Divergent is the first installment in the Divergent Trilogy, which were all bestsellers in 2013 with both .ca & Indigo and have sold more books than the Hunger Games (at the time of the first films release).

For some, the middle section of this album ('Destino', 'Mango', 'Mardi Gras', and 'Reloaded') will represent the core of the club scene. These no-nonsense bangers have all the energy of a nuclear bomb, and each one goes off in a surprising yet epic way. Taking a deep turn away from the vocal tunes lets him kick the party into high gear, just as he would in one of his legendary festival sets. By the time Schulz comes in for the close, you’ll be sure you just listened to a tour-de-force experience worthy of all the attention and accolades it’s sure to receive.

'Scream 2' finishes strong, with features from Grammy-winning songwriter Lady V, chart-topping vocalist CeCe Peniston, Coldharbour mainstay Adina Butar, and trance whiz Rex Mundi. Luc St. Pierre began playing music at 6 years old. Project overview: The music world of the early 1970s was a time of experimentation and activism. When listeners heard Santana play “Free Angela” on their classic 1973 release Lotus, few, if any knew the song was originally released by its writer, Todd Cochran, a year before.

Worlds Around The Sun was recorded and issued on Prestige Records in 1972 by Todd Cochran (as Bayeté). Not only did the young protégé write all of the album’s material, he also produced and played keyboards on it, along with other jazz greats—including a young on vibes. The combination of jazz and groove, anchored by Cochran’s pumping Rhodes and clavinet have made Worlds Around The Sun a legend. Over 40 years later, the album has become a holy grail of collectors, with copies fetching unbelievable prices. When copies can be found, that is . . .

Omnivore Recordings is proud to issue this classic on CD for the first time. To make this release even more fantastic, two previously unissued tracks from the sessions have been added as bonus tracks. Project overview: Sid Selvidge’s The Cold Of The Morning is a mid-’70s Memphis classic. And, it almost never saw the light of day.

Recorded in 1975, Selvidge and producer Jim Dickinson (, Ry Cooder, The Replacements) created a 12-track song cycle, captured live in the studio with Selvidge on vocals and guitar, plus Dickinson on piano with Memphis’ iconic Mudboy and the Neutrons on two tracks. With a cover photo taken by William Eggleston, it was destined for greatness, but when Peabody Records’ benefactor decided not to put the record out at the last minute, he gave the rights to the recently pressed LP to Selvidge, who drove down to the plant, loaded up his car and distributed them himself. The album eventually found its way into regional stores and the national press, even reaching the Cashbox charts, and was enough to take Selvidge to New York, but life intervened, and bigger record deals were not in the cards.

Omnivore Recordings is proud to issue this indelible piece of the Memphis music canon on CD for the first time in over two decades and on LP for the first time since its initial release. Produced in conjunction with Sid’s son, Steve (The Hold Steady), it has been expanded to include six previously unissued tracks from the original sessions. (The CD contains the full 18 track playlist, the LP has the original 12 tracks with a download card for the full 18 songs.) Consisting of originals, blues standards, and Broadway classics, The Cold Of The Morning, is not only a snapshot of a time and place, but of Selvidge himself. The package includes rare photographs and an in-depth essay from Bob Mehr of The Commercial Appeal.

Selvidge would eventually turn Peabody into a boutique label, issuing records by Cybil Shepherd, and even ’s solo debut, Like Files On Sherbert. He continued to record, releasing a 1993 album on Elektra and a swansong, I Should Be Blue, in 2010. But, it all began on The Cold Of The Morning. “He said, ‘Look, I’ve made my classic record,” recalls his son, Steve. “It was almost like he was apart from it. It really was the perfect capturing of the perfect moment, and it made for his most perfect statement.”

Project Overview Chthonic is a Taiwanese metal band originally formed in 1995, with the existing line-up having been together since 2005. Their music blends metal with traditional Chinese instruments and lyrically they are influenced by Taiwan’s mythology, Taoist folk beliefs and the country’s labyrinthine history. They are renowned for their costumes, make-up and highly visual stage shows. Key Points:

Vladimir Ashkenazy returns with an unexpected album of compositions by his long-standing friend Howard Blake, best known for the Christmas favourite Walking In The Air. Walking in the Air , which Ashkenazy has chosen as the title track of the disc is arranged here for solo piano (and available as an e-single). The song was composed by Blake as the centrepiece of his score for the children’s classic animated film The Snowman , and exemplifies the composer’s warmly accessible style.

Ashkenazy performs no fewer than nine world premiere recordings from Blake’s repertoire and the album features music from Blake’s other film scores, including Ridley Scott’s ‘The Duellists’ and horror classic ‘The Changeling’ and the Prelude for Vova Op.640, written after Ashkenazy asked Blake to “make a piece out of my initials A.S.H. – like Liszt did with B.A.C.H.”

Howard Blake’s illustrious career has spanned over 50 years in which he has composed more than 650 works, both classical and popular. He has written scores for numerous films, beginning in the 1970s, but it was in 1982, with his orchestral score for The Snowman that Blake achieved widespread acclaim. While he is best known for the Christmas classic, he has written a wide range of music, including a piano concerto for the 30th birthday of Princess Diana. “His piano music is extremely well written and pianistic, due, of course, to the fact that he is a very good pianist himself,” explains Ashkenazy, “and so it is truly a joy to play.”

Key Points:

The death of Hungarian born conductor István Kertész in a drowning accident off the coast of Israel in April 1973 was a colossal tragedy, and a huge loss to the musical world. Fortunately for future generations, he left a legacy of choice recordings covering a wide range of core classical repertoire. Kertész made his recording debut with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1963 (he was appointed principal conductor in 1965), with a ground‐ breaking version of Dvorák’s Symphony No. 8. The recording was produced by Decca’s Ray Minshull, and began a unique creative partnership. Future projects with the LSO were enhanced by Kenneth Wilkinson’s matchless ability as a Decca sound engineer, and a fruitful relationship between conductor and record label was thus established. If one composer dominates István Kertész’s work in London for Decca, it is Dvorák. Symphonies 7 & 8 are included in this collection, along with the Requiem: “The hero of the occasion is Kertesz… It is abundantly evident that he cherishes a great love for this work…This is certainly the finest performance of [The Requiem] that I have ever heard” Gramophone (original review). Kertész’s complete recordings of Dvorák with the LSO have been reissued as a Decca Collectors Edition (478 6459 [9 CDs]. The present collection also features examples of the conductor’s collaborations with three major pianists spanning several generations: Clifford Curzon, Julius Katchen and Vladimir Ashkenazy. A further benchmark disc includes Barry Tuckwell’s performances of horn concertos by Richard Strauss and his father. It became a reference point for brass players worldwide.
