Professional Profile Ms. Athanasopoulou has over ten years of experience in program management, design, and execution of heavy civil, marine, and infrastructure projects. She has worked with multinational firms in and the on the delivery of remarkable large-scale infrastructure projects.

Working in a fast-paced environment, Ms. Athanasopoulou has led large utility programs and offers a breadth of knowledge in project and program management, project controls, change management process improvement, risk assessment, and financial planning. With comprehensive knowledge of project lifecycle and organizational processes, she has been involved in all stages of projects, from feasibility studies to closeout. She has successfully established Project Management Offices to drive project execution and achieve efficiencies on program and portfolio levels for utility clients.

Her experience as an Exponent consultant includes program and project management as well as project controls. Ms. Athanasopoulou oversees and leads a large electric transmission interconnection and fiber relocation program ($300M) and is responsible for successful program execution. She manages a project team, leads coordination with external program stakeholders, and is responsible for the program’s overall financial performance and project delivery. She has developed process improvements that help clients and Exponent’s team streamline existing process workflows, monitor governance compliance, and promote quality assurance and metrics visibility using automated tracking and reporting tools. She has developed standards and reports to assist stakeholders and portfolio managers in financial planning and risk assessment, and to provide support and training to the project team.

Ms. Athanasopoulou has been involved in multiple proactive advisory services, which include identifying and establishing key metrics for executive-level reporting, cost analysis, data management, and data visualizations. She has assisted clients to design and build platforms for data centralization to facilitate project reporting and project monitoring. Ms. Athanasopoulou has also led the project controls teams of large capital infrastructure programs, such as the Electrification of Caltrain and the California High Speed Rail interconnection project. She has experience in planning and execution as well as development and management of the budget and resource-loaded schedules.

Prior to Exponent, Ms. Athanasopoulou was in leadership roles managing conceptual and detailed designs of various structures including ports and terminals, power generation stations, and bridges. She worked in the Marine and Infrastructure team of Worley in as a senior structural engineer, leading the structural design of numerous projects in and was a member of the PMC (Project Management Consultant) team providing advisory services for terminal projects in . Ms. Athanasopoulou has also worked for Archirodon Construction in Dubai in the project controls team for offshore terminals projects. There, she prepared multi-year budgets and resource-load forecasts, developed earned value calculations and KPIs, drafted monthly invoices to clients, and reviewed technical bid evaluations. She has also worked on the design of Dubai’s port expansion project for

While working at Arteliagroup in Dubai, Ms. Athanasopoulou led the design coordination of a mega water retaining and power generation station and served as the key point of contact coordinating and managing subcontractors. Leads data management and metrics reporting for Project Management Office under Electric Transmission Operations. Assists in design of data aggregation tool and reports to facilitate financial and scheduling reporting, user interaction, and data entry. The tool connects to financial and schedule databases to provide real-time data and analytics to assist program managers and leadership in making data-driven decisions.

Utility Electric Transmission Programs – Program Lead

Managed large electric transmission line interconnection programs. Managed project team consisting of eight project managers and several program-level team members. Produced monthly executive-level reporting showing key metrics’ performance that assisted in overall program oversight. Developed financial forecasting model and schedule health assessment tool to improve KPIs and project closeout. Streamlined existing processes and developed tracking tools to monitor contract management, invoicing, project schedule progress, financial performance, and governance. Managed several electric transmission interconnection and relocation projects from planning to execution and developed financial forecasting, project schedules, and project status reports. Worley, Dubai, U.A.E. – Senior Structural Engineer

Lead design engineer for various marine and infrastructure structures, such as pumping stations, piled seawater intakes, and outfalls of Jazan refinery in Saudi Arabia. As a member of the PMC (Project Management Consultant) team, prepared various proposals, budgets, and engineering schedules. Interfaced with client, advising on engineering and execution solutions throughout construction.
