Description/content Are you studying business, ecology, or environmental science and want to acquire key qualifications in environmental management?
Take part in a one- or two-semester intensive course in sustainable management, and learn how companies could gain valuable advantages in the international market and prosper by implementing sustainable business solutions.
Gain hands-on experience of successful, sustainable projects, and experience how to adapt to today's main challenge of integrating business success and sustainability.
Meet the experts in successful environmental management at the Birkenfeld Environmental Campus. You can find out about Germany, and its regulatory and business approach to today's environmental challenges. Last but not least, you will visit fascinating business and cultural sites.
The programme consists of six exciting modules from various disciplines per semester. All courses are held for four hours per week and are fully credited within the ECTS system, providing a total of 30 credits per semester. Courses take place in small, international study groups. Our teaching atmosphere fosters teamwork, intercultural competence and applied problem-solving via integrated case studies.

Type of accommodation Participants in the programme will live and study on our modern campus with over 2,500 other students. All student flats are reasonably priced (200–300 EUR per month) and fully equipped.

Description of social and The fee includes excursions in the region: e.g. a guided tour of Trier as Germany's oldest city; hiking leisure programme trips with wine-tastings at the Moselle River or Nahe River; and excursions to energy landscapes, enterprises focusing on project development and wind farms. Students will also attend a welcome party and a farewell party.

Trier University of Applied Sciences
Our campus is one of the three sites of the Trier University of Applied Sciences, which is more than 30 years old and cooperates with more than 140 partner institutions worldwide. Founded in 1996, the Environment Campus Birkenfeld is still very young. Nonetheless, it is well equipped. We follow a residential campus concept with academic departments, libraries, and residences as well as social and sports facilities in one place. We not only develop sustainable technologies - we also use them. Energy and heat are supplied by a neighbouring combined biomass heat and power station, which uses waste wood and biogas. All roofs are equipped with solar panels; the lighting and 4 geothermal climate systems are highly energy efficient. The Environmental Campus is located near the town of Birkenfeld on the Nahe River, close to the major European centres of Frankfurt, Luxembourg, and Trier. The campus has its own railway station and is close to the Kaiserslautern-Trier motorway. It has a direct rail connection to Frankfurt Airport (less than two hours), and Ryanair's Frankfurt-Hahn hub is only 40 minutes away.
