IDAPA 58 – DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY Drinking Water Protection and Finance Division 58.01.08 – Idaho Rules for Public Drinking Water Systems To whom does this rule apply? This rule applies to public drinking water systems as defined in IDAPA 58.01.08.003. The rule applies to public water system owners, operators, design engineers and consultants. What is the purpose of this rule? The purpose of this rule is to control and regulate the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and quality control of public drinking water systems to provide a degree of assurance that such systems are protected from contamination and maintained free from contaminants which may injure the health of the consumer. What is the legal authority for the agency to promulgate this rule? This rule implements the following statutes passed by the Idaho Legislature: • Chapter 1, Title 39, Idaho Code – Health and Safety: Environmental Quality • Chapter 21, Title 37, Idaho Code – Food, Drugs, and Oil, Domestic Water and Ice Who do I contact for more information on this rule?
