Nuclear techniques, such as neutron activation analysis, X ray fl uorescence analysis and ion beam analysis, have a potential for non-destructive and reliable investigation of precious artefacts and materials, such as ceramics, stone, metal, and pigments from paintings. Such information can be helpful in repair of damaged objects, in identifi cation of fraudulent artefacts and in the appropriate categorization of historic artefacts. Publications in the IAEA Radiation Technology Series provide information in the areas of: radiation processing and characterization of materials using ionizing radiation, and industrial applications of radiotracers, sealed sources and non-destructive testing. The publications have a broad readership and are aimed at meeting the needs of scientists, engineers, researchers, teachers and students, laboratory professionals, and instructors. International experts assist the IAEA Secretariat in drafting and reviewing these publications. Some of the publications in this series may also be endorsed or co-sponsored by international organizations and professional societies active in the relevant fields. There are two categories of publications: the IAEA Radiation Technology Series and the IAEA Radiation Technology Reports. IAEA RADIATION TECHNOLOGY SERIES Publications in this category present guidance information or methodologies and analyses of long term validity, for example protocols, guidelines, codes, standards, quality assurance manuals, best practices and high level technological and educational material. IAEA RADIATION TECHNOLOGY REPORTS In this category, publications complement information published in the IAEA Radiation Technology Series in the areas of: radiation processing of materials using ionizing radiation, and industrial applications of radiotracers, sealed sources and NDT. These publications include reports on current issues and activities such as technical meetings, the results of IAEA coordinated research projects, interim reports on IAEA projects, and educational material compiled for IAEA training courses dealing with radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical related subjects. IAEAL 11–00686 FOREWORD Cultural heritage (‘national heritage’ or just ‘heritage’) is the legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and restored for the benefit of future generations. Physical or ‘tangible cultural heritage’ includes buildings and historical places, monuments, artefacts, etc., that are considered worthy of preservation for the future. These include preservation and conservation of objects significant to the archaeology, architecture, science or technology of a specific culture. Scientific studies of art and archaeology present a necessary complement for cultural heritage conservation, preservation and investigation. As cultural heritage objects are frequently unique and non-replaceable, non-destructive techniques are mandatory and, hence, nuclear techniques have a high potential to be applied to study these valuable objects. Nuclear techniques, such as neutron activation analysis (NAA), X ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis or ion beam analysis (IBA), have a potential for non-destructive and reliable investigation of precious materials, such as ceramics, stone, metal or pigments from paintings. Such information can help to repair damaged objects adequately, distinguish fraudulent artefacts from real artefacts and assist archaeologists in the appropriate categorization of historical artefacts. Although the application of scientific methods to art and archaeological materials has a long tradition, it is due to the stimulation of institutions such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the IAEA that applications of natural science techniques are increasingly being accepted by museum curators and cultural heritage researchers. The IAEA as a leading supporter of the peaceful use of nuclear technology assists laboratories in its Member States to apply and develop nuclear methods for cultural heritage research for the benefit of socioeconomic development in emerging economies. The Latin barca may stem from Celtic "barc" (per Thurneysen) or Greek "baris" (per Diez), a term for an Egyptian boat. The Oxford English Dictionary considers the latter improbable.[1] The word barc appears to have come from Celtic languages. The form adopted by English, perhaps from Irish, was bark, while that adopted by Latin as barca very early, which gave rise to the French barge and barque. In Latin, Spanish and Italian the term barca refers to a small boat, not a full-size ship. French influence in England led to the use in English of both words, although their meanings now are not the same. Well before the 19th century a barge had become interpreted as a small vessel of coastal or inland waters. Somewhat later, a bark became a sailing vessel of a distinctive rig as detailed below. In Britain, by the mid-19th century, the spelling had taken on the French form of barque.

Mistletoes of the families Loranthaceae and Viscaceae are the most important vascular plant parasites of conifers in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Species of the genera Psittacanthus, Phoradendron, and Arceuthobium cause the greatest economic and ecological impacts. These shrubby, aerial parasites produce either showy or cryptic flowers; they are dispersed by birds or explosive fruits. Mistletoes are obligate parasites, dependent on their host for water, nutrients, and some or most of their carbohydrates. Pathogenic effects on the host include deformation of the infected stem, growth loss, increased susceptibility to other disease agents or insects, and reduced longevity. The presence of mistletoe plants, and the brooms and tree mortality caused by them, have significant ecological and economic effects in heavily infested forest stands and recreation areas. These effects may be either beneficial or detrimental depending on management objectives. Assessment concepts and procedures are available. Biological, chemical, and cultural control methods exist and are being developed to better manage mistletoe populations for resource protection and production. We have collected price and wage information on six regions: Mexico (especially the Mexico City area), Peru (Lima), Colombia (Bogota), Bolivia (Potosi), Chile (Santiago) and Argentina (Buenos Aires). We provide a brief discussion of both the sources of our price and wage series as well as some methodological issues that arose during the processing of this data. All series and the underlying estimates will be made available on the Global Prices and Income Website at University of California, Davis (http://gpih.ucdavis.edu/) and at the Historical Prices and Wages website of the International Institute for Social History (www.iisg.nl/hpw). Prices Most prices reflect transactions from official and private institutions. These organizations kept accounting records for transactions with merchants and suppliers. As a result, the data correspond to current consumer prices. An overview of our sources is given in Table A.1 For Mexico we were able to find price information for a long period of time, starting from the sixteenth century until the nineteenth century. The sources are public auctions, tribute collection offices, notaries, and public granaries. For the sixteenth century we used price quotations from Borah and Cook (1958) from the Mexico City area and neighbouring regions such as Coyoacán. This price source is a mix of retail, wholesale, and auction prices of wheat, maize, meat and some utility goods.

    Facility List The Walt Disney Company is committed to fostering safe, inclusive and respectful workplaces wherever Disney-branded products are manufactured. Numerous measures in support of this commitment are in place, including increased transparency. To that end, we have published this list of the roughly 7,600 facilities in over 70 countries that manufacture Disney-branded products sold, distributed or used in our own retail businesses such as The Disney Stores and Theme Parks, as well as those used in our internal operations. Our goal in releasing this information is to foster collaboration with industry peers, governments, non- governmental organizations and others interested in improving working conditions. Under our International Labor Standards (ILS) Program, facilities that manufacture products or components incorporating Disney intellectual properties must be declared to Disney and receive prior authorization to manufacture. The list below includes the names and addresses of facilities disclosed to us by vendors under the requirements of Disney’s ILS Program for our vertical business, which includes our own retail businesses and internal operations. The list does not include the facilities used only by licensees of The Walt Disney Company or its affiliates that source, manufacture and sell consumer products by and through independent entities. Disney’s vertical business comprises a wide range of product categories including apparel, toys, electronics, food, home goods, personal care, books and others.
