We start off with several pseudonymous singles, which are honestly nothing special as Harry 9: The Path That Leads To Trouble* (Johnny Cole) – Nilsson wasn’t yet allowed to be Harry. Things would change with his debut album, Spotlight On Nilsson, truly a long-lost gem, even if doesn’t approach the production masterpieces of his later work. Finally New Nilsson 10: Good Times* (Harry Nilsson) – Nilsson Songs was a promotional only record (mostly) showcasing Harry’s songwriting. Although Harry didn’t sing 11: So You Think You've Got Troubles (Marvin Rainwater) – Nilsson on all the tunes, some the ones he is featured on remain exclusive to this hard-to-find disc. 12: I'm Gonna Lose My Mind (Johnny Cole) – Nilsson 13: She's Yours (H. Nilsson-J.R. Shanklin) – Nilsson Since this series only covers currently unavailable material you’ll have to look elsewhere for Harry’s very first recordings made for Scott Turner but not released until many years later. To complete your collection 14: Sixteen Tons (Merle Travis) – Nilsson you’ll need Hollywood Dreamer for the undubbed demos and Debut Sessions 1962 for the dubbed 15: Born In Grenada (H. Nilsson-J. Marascalco) – Nilsson versions. 16: You Can't Take Your Love (Harry Nilsson) – Nilsson This is a fan-created disc, and is never for sale. Purple Chick thanks you for sharing the music! 17: Growin' Up (Harry Nilsson) – Nilsson 18: Do You Believe (Harry Nilsson) – Nilsson Look out for future discs in the HARRYties series… LP: Spotlight On Nilsson, Tower ST 5095, 1966 and ST 5165, 1967 *with The New Salvation Singers 19: Sixteen Tons (a cappella) (Merle Travis) – Nilsson bonus track (one channel of the stereo mix) .

  • PRESS KIT FRANK STALLONE BIOGRAPHY Seldom Has a Performer Been Strongly Considered for Both an Academy and Grammy Award, Yet Frank Stallone Has Managed to Pull It Off
FRANK STALLONE PRESS KIT FRANK STALLONE BIOGRAPHY Seldom has a performer been strongly considered for both an Academy and Grammy Award, yet Frank Stallone has managed to pull it off. His fiery portrayal of a brutish bartender Eddie in the film Barfly had Hollywood insid- ers abuzz at Oscar time, and his #1 hit Far From Over, from the film Staying Alive, was likewise touted for a 'Best Song' nomination. It's all in a day's work for Frank a gifted artist who is equally comfortable on screen or on the concert stage. This Grammy and Golden Globe nominated artist has been everything from a street singer, a rock singer, to a big band singer. Frank was also nominated for a Grammy for best soundtrack and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song from the film Staying Alive. Frank has written songs for 11 films, and still plays to SRO crowds in arenas and concert halls from Los Angeles to London. Frank was the first male singer of his generation to switch from pop music to the American Songbook, in the tradi- tion of Sinatra, Darin and Bennett, leading the way for other singers such as Harry Connick, Jr., Rod Stewart, Brian Setzer and Michael Buble. Frank has been touted for his music by such legends as Frank Sinatra, Tony Ben- nett and four-time Oscar-winner songwriter Sammy Cahn. Frank records and performs around the world, and has sung to millions of people over the years performing his own compositions, and keeping alive the classic works great American songwriters.

  • “We're Going to Make the Rolling Stones Look Like Choirboys.”
“We’re going to make The Rolling Stones look like choirboys.” Alice Cooper lice Cooper still looks like a witch: long, raggedy arms, a thatch of crow-feather hair and a large Captain Hook beaked nose. Even without his kohl eye make-up, his grey-blueA eyes wink out just like they did on his million-selling ’70s album covers. His face is creased and his skin is a little looser, but Alice doesn’t look that different from how he did when he was a threat to American decency. He’s tremendously easy company – warm, gracious and happy to retell well-worn stories, and laughing while he does. You can imagine him holding court with The Hollywood Vampires (his 1970s fraternity of terrifyingly hard-drinking musicians that included Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson and John Lennon), and you can see why celebrities like Johnny Depp regard him as a close friend. Smart and slightly self-effacing, he’s also surprisingly similar to his cameo in Wayne’s World, where he played the dignified elder statesman of rock lecturing his stunned fans with expert detail about the pre-settle- ment history of America. Vincent Damon Furnier may be a sophisticated and sober sixty-eight-year-old, golf-obsessed Republican, but he speaks with real fondness about Alice, often referring to him in the third person. Hearing about the height of his fame (and let’s not forget he was face-on-a-lunchbox, TV-holiday-special, Marvel-comic-about- your-exploits famous), it’s obvious he relishes the controversy he caused, but he never set out to corrupt anyone – only to entertain them.

World Music Drumming Transforming Lives . Building Community Playalong Recordings List May, 2017 The following PDF lists of recordings are recommended as playalong recordings to go with World Music Drumming ensembles. • Keep scrolling down to see all of the lists. • Artist and album information is given. • Most the songs can be purchased on iTunes or similar services. Putumayo recordings (Putumayo.com) are not part of iTunes. Guidelines for helping students play along with recordings • You must have a reasonably powerful sound system — playing drums with a small sound system won’t work. • Teach students to play softly; they must follow the recording, not the other way ‘round. • Begin by having students find the beat and meter of the recording: then start with air drumming their parts. • Stop drumming during breaks in the recording; then bring them back in. • HARRY NILSSON's "PUSSY CATS" Heard in Ages and Manages to Take a Few Mild Satiric Pot Shots at Carly Simon, Among ...And How They Sounded Others)
communicate all that much, and although I can dig it on its own recycling level, I can't help preferring the kind of artist who deals in more bedrock human concerns than pop music and its creator's relationship to it. So what about the new album? Well, as you may have gathered by now, it contains nothing I'm going to be listening to after my three or four times through it for the sake of my reviewer's conscience. It opens with a passable rendition of Jimmy Cliff's beautiful Many Rivers to Cross, which has a nice neo- Spector production from John (in the vein of hislast album), dead catchy guitar figures, and a vocal by Harry that is an obvious par- ody of John's Primal Screaming-at once hilariously accurate and inappropriate to the song. There's a remake ofRock Around the Clock thatis both 1974 -heavy and almost slavishly accurate but stillwill not cause anyone to rip out theater seats, a Dylan tune treated in the manner ofJump into the Fire asheavy-metal jungle boogie, a symphonic work-out ofSave the Last Dance for Me that in its own way is equally as dreadful and sans soul as the recent hit cover version by the (gasp!) DeFranco Family, and some light bits of whimsey penned by Harry that have made next to no impression on me at all (except forBlack Sails, which has one of the most gorgeous string arrangements I've HARRY NILSSON'S "PUSSY CATS" heard in ages and manages to take a few mild satiric pot shots at Carly Simon, among ...and how they sounded others).
