Tickets go on sale Friday, August 7th at 10AM through the Stambaugh Auditorium Box Office. Three Dog Night was formed in 1968. From 1969 to 1975, they had 21 Billboard Top 40 Hits with three reaching No. 1. Their No. 1 hits include: Black & White, Joy to the World, and Mama Told Me (Not to Come). More Top 40 Hits include: Shambala Eli’s Coming Pieces of April Easy To Be Hard The Family of Man Try A Little Tenderness An Old Fashioned Love Song Celebrate Til The World Ends The Show Must Go On Out In the Country Play Something Sweet One Sure as I’m Sittin’ Here (Brickyard Blues) Never Been To Spain Let Me Serenade You Liar One Man Band This will be Three Dog Night’s first full performance in Youngstown in over a decade. The band’s members have changed throughout the years, but founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton have remained constants. Original guitarist Michael Allsup, Paul Kingery (bass & vocals), and Pat Bautz (drums) complete the group. Three Dog Night recorded music by “undiscovered” writers at the time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams, and Hoyt Axton. Three Dog Night recently recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at the famous Abbey Road studios in London. This pairing coincided with the groups 35th Anniversary. They have added new songs to their repertoire by releasing their first double-A sided single in almost 25 years. After a brief hiatus in the late 1970s, a reunion in the early 80s kept them touring internationally. Since 1986, they have performed over 2,200 shows including two Super Bowls. Their touring schedule includes over 70 dates per year. Tickets for this concert are available to the public on Friday, August 7th at 10AM. About Stambaugh Auditorium: Stambaugh Auditorium is a non-profit public auditorium which opened in 1926 through the generous gift of Youngstown area businessman Henry H. Stambaugh. The centerpiece of the complex is the Concert Hall which has a seating capacity of 2,553 and is renowned for its near perfect acoustics. The auditorium also features a 9,700-square-foot ballroom (Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom), a recital hall (The Anne Christman Memorial Hall), and a formal garden at the southern end of the building, all of which can be rented for public, business, or private functions. The venue welcomes national and international performers on a regular basis while also hosting local and regional entertainment events. The entire Gainesville music scene was built around songs: Top Forty songs on the radio, songs on albums, original songs performed on stage by bands and other musical ensembles. The late sixties was a golden age of rock and pop music and the rise of the rock band as a musical entity. As the counterculture marched for equal rights and against the war in Vietnam, a sonic revolution was occurring in the recording studio and on the concert stage. New sounds were being created through multitrack recording techniques, and record producers such as Phil Spector and George Martin became integral parts of the creative process. Musicians expanded their sonic palette by experimenting with the sounds of sitar, and through sound-modifying electronic ef- fects such as the wah-wah pedal, fuzz tone, and the Echoplex tape-de- lay unit, as well as a variety of new electronic keyboard instruments and synthesizers. The sound of every musical instrument contributed toward the overall sound of a performance or recording, and bands were begin- ning to expand beyond the core of drums, bass, and a couple guitars.

We held our breath and watched as events were cancelled and postponed, including the ANZAAB Antiquarian and Rare Book Fairs. But in the slowing and stilling of those weeks and months something lovely happened: Archives FFine People called and ordered books or bought them through our website, and many booked appointments for quiet, socially distant browsing. Dedicated book collectors kept collecting books and others discovered they loved books too. We didn’t acquire much stock in this period, but when we were offered a small collection of mid-to-late twentieth century illustrated and signed items we were feeling cheery and hopeful, took them on, and Catalogue 12 came into being.
