New U–Pb zircon geochro- nological and whole-rock geochemical and Sm–Nd isotopic data from the Rödingsfjället Nappe Complex reveal 623 Ma high-grade metamorphism followed by continental rifting and emplacement of the Umbukta gabbro at 578 Ma, followed by intermittent magmatic activity at 541, 510, 501, 484 and 465 Ma. Geochemical data from the 501 Ma Mofjellet Group is indicative of arc magmatism at this time. Syntectonic pegmatites document pre- Scandian thrusting at 515 and 475 Ma, and Scandian thrusting at 429 Ma. These results document a tectonic history that is compatible with correlation with peri-Laurentian and/or peri-Gondwanan terranes. The data allow correlation with nappes at higher and lower tectonostratigraphic levels, including at least parts of the Hel- geland, Kalak and Seve nappe complexes, implying that they too may be exotic to Baltica. Neoproterozoic frag- mentation of the hypothesized Rodinia supercontinent probably resulted in numerous coeval, active margins, producing a variety of peri-continental terranes that can only be distinguished through further combined geo- logical, palaeomagnetic and palaeontological investigations. Bull. 413. 93-99. A revised terrane map is presented for the Scandinavian Caledcnldes. and an outline is given of the principal suspect and exot ic terranes and terrane-complexe s identified outboa rd from the Baltoscand ian miogeocline. The outermost part of the Baltoscandian continental margin is itself suspect , in the terrane sense. since the true palaeogeographical location s of rocks now represented in the Seve and serey-seuano Nappes, while inferred, are not known. The orogen -internal exotic terranes embrace the oceanic/eugeoclinal elements of the Caledonides, represented by the mag matosed imentary assemblages of the Koli Nappes, including ophiolite fragments and island arc products. Even more exot ic terranes occur in the highest parts of the tectonostratigraphy, inclu ding units which are thought possibly to derive from the Laurentian side of lapetus . D. Roberts. Oslo 1986. ISSN 0029-196X. The Mosjøen unit within the Helgeland Nappe Complex is made up of a polydeformed supracrustal sequence consisting mainly of greenschists, greenstones and layers of calcite and dolomite marbles, which have been intruded by large masses of igneous rocks ranging in composition from gabbroic to granitic. The main structural elements and the metamorphic maximum are related to the 02- deformation. The Mosjøen gabbro, yielding an igneous Rb-Sr mineral isochron age of 420 ± 8 m.y. (10 = .70412 ± .00003), was emplaced during the 02 event. A 433 ± 11 m.y. total rock Rb-Sr isochron was obtained for a granitic dyke crosscutting the 02 structures. The geochronological data are inter preted to indicate a Silurian age for the main tectonometamorphic event (02) in the Mosjøen unit. Previous geochronological studies from other parts of the Uppermost AUochthon demonstrate strong early Caledonian (late Cambrian to early Ordovician) metamorphism and deformation prior to Sil urian deformation. The present tectonostratigraphic sequence within the Uppermost Allochthon was established during the main Caledonian thrusting event in the late Silurian to early Oevonian. B. O. Tørudbakken & M.

NORWEGIAN JOURNAL OF GEOLOGY Caledonian anatexis of Grenvillian crust 173 Caledonian anatexis of Grenvillian crust: a U/Pb study of Albert I Land, NW Svalbard Per Inge Myhre, Fernando Corfu & Arild Andresen Myhre, P.I., Corfu, F. & Andresen, A.: Caledonian anatexis of Grenvillian crust: a U/Pb study of Albert I Land, NW Svalbard. Norwegian Journal of Geology, Vol. 89, pp. 173-191. Trondheim 2008. ISSN 029-196X. Dating by U-Pb ID-TIMS of zircon, titanite and monazite has been carried out on orthogneiss, granite and migmatite from Albert I Land Terrane, Northwest Svalbard, to investigate the origin of this terrane and its role within the North Atlantic Caledonides. Detrital zircons in a migmatized metasedimentary rock of the Smeerenburgfjorden Complex indicate deposition after about 1070 Ma. Zircon and titanite from orthogneiss within the same complex yield an upper intercept age of 967.9 ± 4.7 Ma interpreted to date crystallization of the igneous protolith. Monazite ages of 419.7 ± 0.5 Ma from the orthogneiss are interpreted to date Caledonian reworking. Other migmatite and granite samples of the Smeerenburgfjorden Com- plex record monazite growth during a 6–8 My long period commencing at c. 430 Ma. This period concluded with the intrusion of granitoids with ages of 421.7 ± 0.6 Ma and 418.8 ± 0.7 Ma. The latter is coeval with the Hornemantoppen Batholith emplaced at 418.4 ± 0.8 Ma. The identification of late Grenvillian (Rigolet) magmatic and Caledonian (Scandian) magmatic and metamorphic events, combined with other stratigraphic analogies, supports a link with Svalbard’s Nordaustlandet Terrane as well as with Laurentian terranes in NE Greenland and the Scandinavian Caledonides.

INSAR ON EMBANKMENT DAMS REPORT 2015:212 HYDRO POWER InSAR on Embankment dams Pilot on deformation measurement ØYVIND ESPESETH LIER, FRANO CETINIC, INGVAR EKSTRÖM, TOM RUNE LAUKNES, YNGVAR LARSEN ISBN 978‐91‐7673‐ 212‐0 | © 2015 ENERGIFORSK Energiforsk AB | Phone: 08‐677 25 30 | E‐mail: [email protected] | www.energiforsk.se INSAR ON EMBANKMENT DAMS Foreword In this study the potential of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) to provide timely settlement measurements in high spatial resolution has been tested on four dams in Norway and Sweden. The results show that InSAR provides data that is consistent with the settlement patterns expected and with the manual geodetic ground measurements for the dams of Akersvatn and Ajaure. The study shows that the InSAR methodology can give reliable settlement data with little variation and high temporal and spatial resolution for dams. The report has been written by Øyvind Espeseth Lier, Frano Cetinic, Ingvar Ekström, Tom Rune Lauknes, Yngvar Larsen. The conclusions in the report are the authors and does not necessarily represent the view of Energiforsk or the participants in Energiforsks dam safety development program. The project has been a part of Energiforsks dam safety R&D program with participation from hydro power companies and Svenska kraftnät. Stockholm November 2015 Cristian Andersson Authors acknowledgements The authors would like to thank the Norwegian and Swedish hydroelectric power industries for their support of this project. The participants Sira‐Kvina, Statkraft, Tromskraft and Vattenfall have contributed information about their dams, procedures in deformation measurement, and financial support for the project. Further, we wish to thank the industry organisations Energy Norway and Energiforsk of Sweden, as well as The Norwegian Space Centre for financial support.
