La Carrera Panamericana 2020 La Carrera Panamericana 2020 To all our media friends, It is a pleasure for the Organizing Committee of La Carrera Panamericana to be in contact with you for the 33rd Edition of its modern era in such a special year when we celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the first checkered flag in 1950. As you know, La Carrera was created for the inauguration of the Panamerican Highway in the section that corresponded to our country, the route ran from Ciudad Juarez to El Ocotal on the border with Guatemala. This year we will go through the "Legendary Stage", where great drivers such as Hersel McGriff, Piero Taruffi, Karl King, Juan Manuel Fangio, Umberto Maglioli, Felice Bonetto, Hans Hermann, among others, traveled the mythical Highway 45 and wrote part of the history of world motoring. This year's route is designed to cover 689 km of speed stages instead of the 616 km of last year. This represents a unique opportunity to revive the legend in all its breadth. Without any doubt, we have spent a year like no other, so we will carry out a "Safe Race" for which the Organizing Committee has developed the Safety and Health Measures Protocols based on the National Guidelines for the Reopening of the Tourist Sector and those of the National Rally Commission (CNRM) for the health requirements for the registration park in Oaxaca and during the race track guaranteeing health priority in conjunction with the magic and splendor that is experienced in each edition. In the following days we will send you the respective logistics for Oaxaca in the Registration Park as well as those each of the Closed Finish Arches where we will have restricted access. UBICACIÓN: 3º con Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 - Acompañante: Zanardi. NÚMERO: 730. En el año 1949 Fangio había estado a punto de competir en las tradicionales Mil Millas por invitación del ingeniero Alessio, Director Deportivo de Alfa Romeo. Esa posibilidad no se pudo concretar. Sin embargo, en 1950, insistieron para que el piloto condujera un modelo competizione berlinetta de 6 cilindros en línea y 2443 cc en la Categoría Sport – de mas de 2000 cc Fangio recibió el auto prácticamente al momento de la largada, sin haber podido testear su condición. Le corresponde el número 730 - que tradicionalmente representa la hora (07.30) - de largada desde Brescia. Los competidores salen con intervalos de un minuto entre máquina y máquina. A debut in Central America: In 2016 the FIA World Endurance Champion- ship (WEC) will be held for the first time in Mexico City. When Porsche enters the 919 Hybrid into the fifth round of the WEC on September 1st to 3rd this also means a return. Back in 1954, a class win at the famous road race “Carrera Panamericana” proved to be groundbreaking for the company. From the late 50ies until the early 70ies, the Mexican brothers, Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez, celebrated successes with Porsche. Up to the 90ies, the Porsche 962 C raced at the “Autódromo Her- manos Rodríguez”. Carrera Panamericana: Hans Herrmann is exhausted when he brings home the Porsche 550 Spyder to the finish of the Carrera Panamericana in November 1954. The German has crossed Mexico from the South to the North. 3,077 kilometres lie behind him and the agile mid engine car. His class win in the up 1.5 litre capacity category at the sixth round of the then sports car world championship is considered as the breakthrough for the Por- sche brand on the American continent. Only 36 seconds behind him Jaroslav Juhan finishes with the sister car. The German and the Prague born Guatemalan had bat- tled for days, and in the overall result they are classified third and fourth. Ferry Por- sche’s idea of making the brand’s name and quality famous by successful racing now also works transatlantic.

The dates for this winter’s “AONE Pizza and a Movie” events, and the movies to be shown, are: 1. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The Racers, a 1955 film starring Kirk Douglas, Bella Darvi, Gilbert Roland, Cesar Romero, Lee J. Cobb, and Katy Jurado. This movie is a few minutes short of two hours long and pizza will be brought in at the end of the film for an intermission. During the pizza break some excerpts from my collection of motor racing videos will be shown.† This thirty- eight minute special feature will show movies of some 1950s sport car races and some Formula One races in Europe during the fifties. 2.
