It includes 167 collembolan species belonging to 78 genera and 5(1):22–33. 17 families including 45 endemic species. Majority of the Nepalese collembolan species were reported from major trekking routes viz. https://doi.org/10.3126/njz.v5i1.38287 Mount Everest, Annapurna Conservation Area and Langtang area with very few other locations. Inventory of Collembola was concentrated along the major trekking routes in Nepal particularly west Nepal (Annapurna Conservation Area) and Central Nepal (Langtang area and trekking route from Banepa- Kavrepalanchowk-Ramechhap-Solukhumbu to Everest base camp) and few high elevation area of west Nepal (Fig. 1). Most of the Tarai and Shiwalik range are completely unexplored with a few exceptions (Fig. 2). 3.2 | Species Accumulation Curve The inventory of Nepalese Collembola began in 1912. Yosii (1966, 1971) discovered 65 species from different part of the country. Janetscheki (1990) is another contributor to describe more than 70 species from Nepal. Based on the available information the species discovery curve is shown in Fig. 3. Figure 2. Distribution map of Collembola of Nepal 3.3 | Endemic collembolan species Endemism patterns varies among regions, habitats and taxa (Deharveng et al. 2008). Endemic species are special attention of conservation point of view. Collembola contain high endemic 150 species (Martin et al. 2000). Nepal is rich in endemic fauna of Collembola. Oceanic island biota generally present high percentages of endemic species, and the vulnerability of these species is higher than those of the continents. The objective of this work was to carry out a survey of the Collembola species of the order Poduromorpha in the Brazilian oceanic islands and synthesize a distribution list of this order for Brazil. Our results reveal four new species of Collembola Poduromorpha for Brazilian oceanic islands that may be useful for the conservation strategies of these island regions and a contributor to the knowledge of the order in Brazil. The latter three classes were formerly allied with the insect orders Archaeognatha (jumping bristletails) and Thysanura (silverfish) as the insect subclass Apterygota (‘wingless’). The Apterygota is now regarded as an artificial assemblage (Bitsch & Bitsch 2000).

The collections are mostly based on moss and upper soil-layer samples. Besides widespread species, some rare species were found (e.g. Anurophorus coiffaiti and Crypto- pygus triglenus). 12 species are new for Crete. Key words: Collembola, species list, mountain region, Crete Introduction The “Species list of the fauna Europaea” lists 76 springtail species or subspecies for the island Crete (last update March 2005, http:// faunaeur.org/species_list.php). These data are mainly based on ELLIS (1976). He collected within the Iráklion region (sampling list with 50 sites). A recent study of the collembolan fauna from Crete was published by SCHULZ & LYMBERAKIS (2006). They recorded 22 Collembola species (pitfall trap samples from 4 sites near the mountain village Anopolis, western Crete). The present contribution continues the study of collem- bolan fauna of Crete, especially of its mountain regions. Material and methods Collembolan sampling was carried out between 5-24 and 6-9-2004 in nearly 30 different sites. More than 200 samples (mostly moss and litter 175 layer) were taken and extracted in modified Berlese devices. Additionally an aspirator was used for collecting springtails from stones. In this paper, we combined morphology and DNA barcode data to investigate the complicated taxonomy of two Onychiurid Collembolan species. Thalassaphorura thalassophila and Thalassaphorura debilis are among the most common arthropod species in intertidal ecosystems and are often considered to be synonymous. Based on morphological and barcode analyses of fresh material collected in their type localities, we redescribed and compared the two species. However, their morphological distinctiveness was supported by a molecular divergence much smaller than previously reported at the interspecific level among Collembola. This divergence was even smaller than inter-population divergences recognized in the related edaphic species T. zschokkei, as well as those known between MOTUs within many Collembolan species.
