FOOD ASSISTANCE DIRECTORY March 2007 of

NOTE: Duplication and distribution of any part of this directory is encouraged among staff and other health agencies.

This directory provides food assistance programs in a variety of situations, ranging from temporary help to on-going food needs.

This information was current as of March 31, 2007; however, various aspects of food assistance programs change frequently.

Please call to confirm the information listed before making any referrals.

Churches are not listed as a separate category, however, most churches will provide emergency assistance to their parishioners or surrounding neighborhood.

There are a number of child nutrition programs such as school breakfast, lunch, summer food service, after school snack and child care food reimbursement that can feed children on an ongoing basis. The San Diego Hunger Coalition (619) 427-6527 can be a resource for these programs.

Food Stamp usage continues to be low; encourage clients to use this nutrition assistance program. Call 1- 800-262-9881 to determine if an individual qualifies.

For additional information or copies, please call (619) 692-5601. Produced and distributed by:
