[THE Tynwald Court Adjournments Act 1919]1

1 Short title This Act may be cited as ‘The Tynwald Court Adjournments Act, 1919’.

2 President of Tynwald may adjourn Tynwald by proxy Whenever it may be necessary to adjourn the Tynwald Court from one day to another or from place to place, without such Court having assembled, it shall be lawful for the President of Tynwald by writing, under his hand, to authorize the or Secretary to such Court, or any Coroner, to attend at the place and time for which such Court has been convoked and adjourn the same to the day, time, and place which may be appointed by such writing: And any adjournment to be made in pursuance of any such writing shall for all purposes, be as valid as if made by the President of Tynwald when such Court was duly assembled.1

2A Adjournment of Legislative Council or House of Keys by proxy The President of Tynwald may in writing adjourn the Legislative Council and the Speaker of the House of Keys may in writing adjourn the House of Keys without the Legislative Council or, as the case may be, the House of Keys having assembled, in like manner as the President of Tynwald may adjourn Tynwald under section 2 of this Act, and any adjournment made in pursuance of any such writing shall, for all purposes, be as valid as if made by the President of Tynwald, or as the case may be, the Speaker of the House of Keys when the Legislative Council or the House of Keys was duly assembled.2

4 Commencement of Act This Act shall come into operation when the Royal assent thereto has been by the Lieutenant- announced to Tynwald and a certificate to this effect has been signed by the Lieutenant-Governor and the Speaker of the House of Keys.
