I just wanted fill you in on Saints Helping Heroes for January. I wasn't really sure at first how I was going to select a nursing home out of the several in our area, so I started with Mr. Baird. When I spoke with Mr. Baird, he asked if we were affiliated with any in the area. I wasn’t sure of that either, so I had to check in to that first. This led me to Deacon Jay and Deacon Bill. They informed me that we are affiliated with most if not all of the nursing homes in the area, however there is one in particular that would need our help the most. Long story short, I called Integrity of Alton. They are very excited to be chosen. After talking to them, we think items such as art supplies (crayons, colored pencils, paper), board games, decks of cards, uno, yahtzee, jumbo crossword puzzles and word finds, adult coloring books, DVDs, beach balls, etc. If you have any of these items and would like to donate them, board games will need to have all the pieces, things will need to be gently used. DVDs will need to be like new and working. If you would like to donate new art supplies or new word finds and such, those would be greatly appreciated. I will be using money out of our fund to purchase items to make baskets to present to the nursing home along with cards the students will make in connection with Catholic Schools Week. We will also be purchasing items for little goody bags for each resident. If you would like to help out in any way, or if you have any suggestions about this month’s recipient or future, please don’t hesitate to share. I am open for suggestions. If choosing to donate, please send items to the office. Thank you so much for all you do, Saints Helping Heroes c/o Mrs. Jacobs !4.
