Today we welcome Canterbury United, a side who we fully respect and a team looking to continue their momentum. As we look ahead to the match today, we must continue our performances and have a cutting edge to take the three points. We have improved each game, so today you’ll see another improved performance. With no disrespect to the teams we have faced the last three weeks, we have dropped points and should really be clear at the top of the league. That’s our mentality. We are here to win football matches. It’s been great to see our younger players step up and get minutes and starts. These are earnt, just like the ‘older’ players earn their minutes. It’s been a month since we played at Hutt Park. A tough away encounter at Wests, a Chatham Cup game in the polar wind tunnel at Wakefield Park against Island Bay and then another night game in freezing conditions against Lower Hutt at Fraser. Well it’s nice to be home and playing during the daytime — on grass! Season two back in Central League has seen an improved start to the campaign. In fact our last home defeat was close to a year ago on the 13th June 2015 against you guessed it — Napier City Rovers. This season has seen a host of yellows and reds being handed out—something like 8 reds in all games we’ve been involved in already! And that seems to be consistent with our Central and Capital Premier colleagues with a host of games being impacted in this way.
