Elle est membre de l'Union européenne et de la zone euro respectivement depuis 1995 et 1999. On y parle surtout allemand, mais six autres langues sont reconnues officiellement (le hongrois, le romani, le slovène, le croate, le tchèque et le slovaque). C'est un pays montagneux : les Alpes occupent les deux tiers de la surface au sol, avec Vue du Danube { Linz sa plus haute montagne à plus de 3900m. Le principal fleuve qui le traverse est le Danube, sur 350km de parcours. Il est très emprunté, tant par les cargos commerciaux que par des bateaux de croisière. L'Autriche a donné le jour à de nombreux noms célèbres, comme les compositeurs Franz Schubert et Johann Strauss (père et fils), les actrices Hedy Lamarr et Romy Schneider, le peintre Gustav Klimt (tableau ci-contre), le psychanalyste Sigmund Freud ou encore, récemment, l'acteur Arnold Schwarzenegger, expatrié et depuis devenu sénateur américain. C’est en Autriche que nait « Sissi », impératrice du 19ème siècle, célèbre pour sa beauté, sa chevelure et son train de vie très différent de celle de la cour impériale. Elle détestait les mondanités et préférait voyager, ce qu’elle fit toute sa vie, surtout en Hongrie. Si vous voulez faire du tourisme en Autriche, vous pourrez vous tourner vers sa capitale, Vienne, ou encore Innsbruck, une ville alpine célèbre pour sa vieille ville médiévale (à gauche). Vous pouvez aussi choisir de profiter d’une balade autour du Lac Zell, proche des glaciers, pour ensuite continuer avec une session de ski pour les plus sportifs, ou une cure thermale pour se ressourcer ! 5 Point Culture Générale Il est habituel tous les 1er Mai d’offrir un brin de muguet, mais pourquoi ? La tradition remonterait à la renaissance. Le roi Charles IX en aurait offert en 1561 à chaque personne autour de lui en disant « qu’il en soit fait ainsi chaque année ». La coutume se serait étendue ainsi dans tout le pays rapidement. Charles IX A la révolution française, la tradition se perd. Elle renaît en 1895 avec le chansonnier Félix Mayol qui porte un brin de muguet au revers de sa redingote lors de sa première sur la scène du Concert Parisien. Cette première étant un succès il conserve ce muguet qui devient son emblème et relance ainsi la tradition. La tradition prend de plus en plus d’ampleur au fil des années et devient ainsi une fête dans toute la France. Le premier Mai 1936, le muguet est associé pour la première fois à la fête du travail. Nevertheless, the French did not take effective control of their foothold on this continent until 7^ years later when Samuel de Champlain founded the settlement of Quebec in 1608, at the foot of Cape Diamond on the St. Laurence River. At first, the settlement was conceived of as a trading post for the lucrative fur trade, but two difficul­ ties soon becam,e apparent—problems that have plagued French Canada to the present day—the difficulty of comirunication across trackless forests and m.ountainous terrain and the rigors of the Great Canadian Winter.

    Serge Lama, Un día, una vida. Con el título “Un jour, une vie”, Serge Lama presentó su último trabajo cantado en directo el 11 de febrero de 2003, justo el día que cumplía 60 años de edad. Se trata de uno de los mejores cantantes de Francia. Hizo un recital para sus admiradores en el Palais Omnisport de París Bercy. Los eurovisivos conocemos a Serge Lama por su intervención en el Festival de Eurovisión de 1971 en Dublín donde quedó décimo con el tema “Un jardin sur la terre” representando a Francia. Pero eso sólo fue una anécdota para una gran figura, que el Festival ni le quitó ni le dio. Un personaje duro, que nos recuerda a Napoleón, pero también a nuestro Nino Bravo. Quizá el cantante valenciano desaparecido en abril de 1973 hubiera tenido una carrera similar a la de Serge. Físicamente se parecen y en portento de voz también. Además serían casi de la misma edad. Serge Lama, de nombre real Serge Chauvier, nació en Burdeos el 11 de febrero de 1943, en plena Guerra Mundial. Su padre era barítono, Georges Chauvier, y de él heredó la vena artística y una magnífica voz. Era hijo único. La familia emigró a París en 1950. Vivían humildemente ya que su padre era un artista modesto que no tuvo el éxito merecido. Pero Serge, desde pequeño vivió el mundo de la farándula y quedó prendado de él, de esos teatros parisienes tan románticos. Inspiración que consagró su carrera. Con los años se haría un auténtico cantautor romántico de baladas llenas de sentimiento.
