Zaměřuje se na hlavní charakteristiku stylu, teorie vzniku, způsoby interpretace a instrumentální doprovod. Uvádí základní typologie fada ve významných oblastech Portugalska. Práce obsahuje hlavní témata textů písní fado obecně a v jednotlivých regionech. Představuje stěžejní osobnosti fada a poukazuje na současnost hudebního stylu v Portugalsku a celosvětově. Práce si klade za cíl seznámit s portugalským lidovým hudebním stylem fado. Annotation Bachelor thesis deals with the Portuguese folk music style fado. Its focus is on the main characteristics of the style, theories of its origin, manners of interpretation and instrumental accompaniment. Provides basic typology of fado from prominent areas of Portugal. The work includes main topics of lyrics of fado in general and in individual regions. Presents prominent personalities of fado and points to the present of the music style in Portugal and worldwide. The work aims to familiarize with the Portuguese folk music style fado. Hlavním cílem práce je seznámit širokou veřejnost v České republice s tímto poněkud méně známým hudebním žánrem, který je však významnou součástí kulturního dědictví Portugalska. Zajímá mě portugalská kultura a začala jsem také studovat portugalský jazyk. Celkově jsem absolvovala čtyři semestry portugalského jazyka na filozofické fakultě Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Studium mi výrazně pomohlo v překladu portugalských pramenů a textů písní fado. Později jsem měla možnost společně s dalšími portugalskými přáteli procestovat Portugalsko. Navštívila jsem známá místa, která mají spojitost se stylem fado – Porto, Coimbru a Lisabon. Především návštěva hlavního města Lisabonu pro mne byla velmi přínosná. Ze starobylých uliček na člověka doslova dýchá atmosféra a melancholie písní fado. Fado je zde také velkou turistickou atrakcí. Valná většina restaurací pořádá každý večer tradiční vystoupení fada, kterých jsem se také mohla zúčastnit. Na zdech vás vybízejí plakáty k poslechu fada a můžeme ho slyšet i na samotných ulicích města. Portugalsko je doslova protkané hudbou fado a stále se těší velké přízni místních lidí i turistů. Návštěva Portugalska, společně se studiem portugalského jazyka, byly hlavní motivací k napsání této bakalářské práce. Práce je rozčleněna do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola se zabývá hudebním stylem fado z obecného hlediska, jeho hlavní charakteristikou, způsobem interpretace a použitými doprovodnými nástroji. Zkoumá také nejpravděpodobnější teorie vlivu na vznik hudebního stylu fado. Jedná se o vliv arabský, provensálský, afro-brazilský a vliv moře. Současně s tímto výzkumem zmiňuje hlavní protagonisty daných teorií a jejich zásadní argumenty. Druhá kapitola pojednává o typologii fada a jeho hlavních druhů rozdělených geograficky. Jedná se o fado oblasti Lisabonu, Coimbry a Porta. Popisuje specifické rysy každého z druhů a uvádí hlavní rozdíly mezi nimi. Ve třetí kapitole nalezneme rozbor stěžejních témat textů písní fado. Mezi ně patří osud, smutek, láska a moře. Ke každému tématu je uvedena ukázka písně, či 6 výběr z písně, v originálním portugalském znění a dále český překlad. Všechny překlady jsem tvořila sama. Rozbor se dále zabýval tématy fado lisboeta (fado Lisabonu). V Lisabonu se nachází největší těžiště témat a motivů k písním fado. Rozhodla jsem se analyzovat nejběžnější z nich – známá místa, domy fada, býčí zápasy, kritika společnosti a místní postavy. Ke každému tématu představuji ukázku z písně pro názornost práce autora s jednotlivým tématem. Překlad do českého jazyka je také součástí. Poslední z rozebíraných oblastí je fado coimbrão (fado Coimbry). Čtvrtá kapitola představuje stěžejní nositele fada, Amálii Rodrigues a současnou interpretku Marizu. Zabývám se jejich životem a hudební kariérou ve spojitosti s fadem, jejich výjimečností a přínosem pro hudební styl fado. Součástí této kapitoly je také pojednání o současných projevech fada v celosvětovém měřítku. Za Českou republiku jsou zmíněny

C’est donc une proposition personnelle que Mariza veut faire à son public, après ces quelques années de pause, alliant personnalité individuelle et perception globalisante du ‹Monde›, qu’elle conquiert à travers cette nouvelle tournée, et dans la continuité de son album «Terra» en 2008. Mariza a toujours joué des différentes échelles, locales et uni- verselles. Faisant partie de cette génération qui n’a jamais redouté les reprises d’Amália Rodrigues (ce qui n’est pas le cas de tous, voir par exemple l’exemple du chanteur Camané), elle ponctue souvent ses concerts de l’emblématique chanson (dont le poème est d’Amália Rodrigues) «Ó gente da minha terra» (Ô gens de ma terre) et la ‹terre› renvoie ici au village, au ‹terreau›, à la plus petite localité possible, au plus petit dénominateur commun, et bien sûr – richesse de la langue portugaise – à l’immensité de la planète ‹terre›.

Tal como qualquer outro género musical, o Fado foi tocado pelo tempo, marcado por diferentes conjunturas sociais, culturais e estéticas, mantendo, contudo, uma forte ligação à sua genuinidade (o fado tradicional), no imaginário coletivo de públicos e intérpretes. Reflete-se, a partir da diversidade estética que o Fado nos oferece, sobre o seu percurso evolutivo num passado próximo. De igual modo se reflete sobre a grande diversidade deste universo muito próprio e destaca-se a capacidade de partilhar os mesmos tempos, os mesmos espaços e os mesmos públicos, sinónimo de vitalidade, dinâmica e atualidade. ABSTRACT This article seeks to search for a record on the current universe of Fado, a reflection of its adaptation to the contemporaneity, and discloses multiplicity and fusion of musical genres. Like any other musical genre Fado was touched by time, marked by different social, cultural and aesthetic situations, while maintaining a strong connection to its genuineness, in the collective imagination of audiences and performers. It is reflected from the aesthetic diversity Fado offers us in its evolutionary path to the present day. Similarly, the great diversity of this very universe itself, and its ability to share the same time, the same spaces and the same public, the Fado is synonymous with vitality, dynamic and present.

In the prologue, I discuss my influences and inspirations, and explain the creative and critical devices I use throughout my art. Inspired by the Portuguese music genre of fado and its latest iteration, the novo fado, selections in each collection feature code-switching, recurring motifs (birds, oil, and water), and sensory language. A variety of speakers and travelogues is also used to explore themes of agency, identity, loss, and restoration. These devices coalesce to produce a progressive framework for the classic elements of fado (i.e., melancholia, location, and longing) and the innovative expression of novo fado, a dynamic which comprises the poetic arc of each piece in my collections.     MARIZA In less than twelve years, Mariza has risen from a well hidden local phenomenon, known only to a small circle of admirers in Lisbon, to one of the most widely acclaimed stars of the World Music circuit. Fado em mim Album It all started with her first CD, Fado em Mim, published in 2001, which quickly led to a number of highly successful international presentations - the Québec Summer Festival, in which she received the event’s First Award (Most Outstanding Performance), New York’s Central Park, the Hollywood Bowl, the Royal Festival Hall, the Womad Festival - and ultimately earned her BBC Radio 3’s award for Best European Artist in the area of World Music. Fado em Mim was an exciting first album, showing a young singer with a rich, vibrant voice and a strong artistic personality. She still sang several hits of Amália’s repertory but her approach to the heritage of the great Fado diva was already so personal that she could easily cast away any suggestion of mere imitation. And within her original material Ó Gente da minha Terra, by the young composer Tiago Machado, soon became a major hit in its own right. Fado Curvo Album In 2003 came her second album, Fado Curvo. It was clearly a step ahead in a process of strengthening her own style and widening her own repertory, with the help of excellent arrangements by Carlos Maria Trindade. Amália was still present, with her emblematic Primavera, on a poem by David Mourão Ferreira, but so was ballad singer José Afonso, an icon of the democratic opposition to the Salazar regime in the 1960s and 70s, and much of the material was new and inspired.
