On the Periphery of a Great “Empire”: Secondary Formation of States and Their Material Basis in the Shandong Peninsula during the Late Bronze Age, ca. 1000-500 B.C.E Minna Wu Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMIBIA UNIVERSITY 2013 @2013 Minna Wu All rights reserved ABSTRACT On the Periphery of a Great “Empire”: Secondary Formation of States and Their Material Basis in the Shandong Peninsula during the Late Bronze-Age, ca. 1000-500 B.C.E. Minna Wu The Shandong region has been of considerable interest to the study of ancient China due to its location in the eastern periphery of the central culture. For the Western Zhou state, Shandong was the “Far East” and it was a vast region of diverse landscape and complex cultural traditions during the Late Bronze-Age (1000-500 BCE). In this research, the developmental trajectories of three different types of secondary states are examined. The first type is the regional states established by the Zhou court; the second type is the indigenous Non-Zhou states with Dong Yi origins; the third type is the states that may have been formerly Shang polities and accepted Zhou rule after the Zhou conquest of Shang. On the one hand, this dissertation examines the dynamic social and cultural process in the eastern periphery in relation to the expansion and colonization of the Western Zhou state; on the other hand, it emphasizes the agency of the periphery during the formation of secondary states by examining how the polities in the periphery responded to the advances of the Western Zhou state and how local traditions impacted the composition of the local material assemblage which lay the foundation for the future prosperity of the regional culture.

  • Analysis of Spatial-Temporal Distribution of Notifiable Respiratory
Li et al. BMC Public Health (2021) 21:1597 https://doi.org/10.1186/s12889-021-11627-6 RESEARCH ARTICLE Open Access Analysis of spatial-temporal distribution of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases in Shandong Province, China during 2005– 2014 Xiaomei Li1†, Dongzhen Chen1,2†, Yan Zhang3†, Xiaojia Xue4, Shengyang Zhang5, Meng Chen6, Xuena Liu1* and Guoyong Ding1* Abstract Background: Little comprehensive information on overall epidemic trend of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases is available in Shandong Province, China. This study aimed to determine the spatiotemporal distribution and epidemic characteristics of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases. Methods: Time series was firstly performed to describe the temporal distribution feature of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases during 2005–2014 in Shandong Province. GIS Natural Breaks (Jenks) was applied to divide the average annual incidence of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases into five grades. Spatial empirical Bayesian smoothed risk maps and excess risk maps were further used to investigate spatial patterns of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases. Global and local Moran’s I statistics were used to measure the spatial autocorrelation. Spatial- temporal scanning was used to detect spatiotemporal clusters and identify high-risk locations. Results: A total of 537,506 cases of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases were reported in Shandong Province during 2005–2014. The morbidity of notifiable respiratory infectious diseases had obvious seasonality with high morbidity in winter and spring. Local Moran’s I analysis showed that there were 5, 23, 24, 4, 20, 8, 14, 10 and 7 high-risk counties determined for influenza A (H1N1), measles, tuberculosis, meningococcal meningitis, pertussis, scarlet fever, influenza, mumps and rubella, respectively.

Keywords Ordovician limestone, karst water disaster, rock stratum features, grouting reconstruction, geophysical prospecting, prevention and control technology Introduction North China Permo-carboniferous coal field is one of the main coal-bearing areas in China, with a reserve accounting for about 1/3 of the total reserves of the coal fields in China, and there are tens of billions of tons of coal resources in the coal bed of the middle deep Taiyuan Formation in the area, which can't be mined safely due to severe threat of the Ordovician limestone water at the floor. As the mining level of the mine becomes deeper and deeper, the Ordovician limestone water pressure becomes higher and higher and the probability of water inrush becomes higher and higher under the joint action of the mine pressure and the water pressure, with great influences on the safe production of.

Agri-food trade conference arranged by trade delegation from Shandong Province (China) On behalf of the Shandong Province organisers/hosts, the Danish Agriculture and Food Council (L&F) is pleased to invite Danish companies within the agri-food sector to participate in a trade conference with a large delegation of companies from the Shandong Province. Around 30 Chinese importing companies (together with a number of exporting companies) with a strong focus on Danish products of high quality and food safety take part in the delegation and are keen to meet Danish agri-food producers directly. The event is relevant for producers and exporters within dairy and seafood production, as well as poultry/eggs, red meat, vegetables/fruits/grain, feed, organic products across the food categories, and process equipment. The programme will consist of an official welcome with speeches by the organisers and the Chinese embassy, followed by two short panel debates on exports and imports. The large majority of the event will then be dedicated to B2B meetings between participating Danish companies and the visiting Chinese companies. Shandong ranks second-largest in China when it comes to the size of its population, which exceeded 100 million (100,058,300) by the end of 2017. In terms of economic activity, it ranks 3rd in China, with the total GDP of 2017 up to 7,267.818 billion yuan. So far, Shandong has established trade ties with more than 220 countries and regions in the world. In 2017, imports and exports rose to 1,782.39 billion yuan, 121.05 billion yuan of foreign capital actually used, and 37.75 billion yuan actually invested outbound.
