From J14 on the M4, head north on the A338 towards Wantage. After a mile and a half you come down a hill into the village of . The main road takes a 90- degree left bend at the bottom of the hill. Turn right here. (If you reach the Swan Pub, you have missed this turning.) Follow the course of the river downstream for 1½ miles until you come into the village of Weston. At the far end of the village you will see Weston Court (offices, and clearly marked) on the right. Turn right as if you were going to Weston Court, and drive all the way round the back of the office building (into Weston Farmyard) until you are facing the road again, with Weston Mill (white building) opposite you. On your right is an outbuilding with a green door, which is our Fishing Room, where you will find a map of the fishery. You can park either outside or in front of the gate below you to fish the lower and middle sections of the river. Please read fishery rules on arrival when signing the log book located in the Fishing Room, sign in and out and complete return on departure. Also please note that you are not permitted to fish in the garden of Weston Mill. * see footnote also. Debarbed or barbless hooks please. You may fish upstream dry fly or nymph, keep a brace and return 4 trout. All grayling to be returned. These average about 2lb, incidentally. You may get into the water to cover a particular fish, but indiscriminate wading is not allowed, except where you have no choice (i.e. at the very top end of the fishery). You can also stand in the water at the back of a hatch pool in order to get a Avondale ●Netton Salisbury Wiltshire England SP4 6AW Tel: +44 (0) 1722 782858 Company No.5060727 Vat Reg: 730351373

straight drift. The bottom section below the road bridge is often quite boggy (waders required), and is best approached by following the public footpath by the side of the old chapel/school. From the fishery hut walk out onto the road and turn right though the garden of the old school. Continue over the stiles and along the edge of the field until you reach a kissing gate, after this gate turn left across the meadow to the access point stile. The fishery boundary is the foot-bridge about 150 yards below road bridge - please do not be tempted to go downstream into which is not ours. At road bridge, walk out onto the road and turn right, over bridge then 50 yards until you see a track on your left. Along here a few yards and you will see a path down to the river (on your left). Cross the footbridge and you will be on the true right bank (left looking upstream). Keep heading upstream and you will rejoin the main river after 100 yards. Keep an eye on the mill stream on your left as although it looks pretty silted there are usually some big trout and grayling in there. Please note you cannot fish the pool directly below Weston Mill on the mill-stream. The next footbridge you come to is the one by Weston Mill (i.e. other side of road from Weston Farm). You can get back to the car by walking across in front of the mill (no fishing in garden please!), or can cross the river at the wooden footbridge and keep on going upstream until you hit the road that goes to Elton Farm. For the top section above Teekay and Elton Farm you can drive back towards Great Shefford to the right turn just above the village (you can park in the lay-by on the left there). Above here you have the whole meadow - the hedge at the top is our top boundary, and the wading rules are relaxed at the top where there is no mown bank.
