Posters About: Lisa’s Vision

It is my aim to capture the timeless truths and to compose and perform them. To place them in melodies that are made for the repeat button. To write songs that you want to hold close, with substance, with honesty and with dignity. To hold a depth of emotion and not lose sight of logic. about: Lisa

A songwriter for 13 years and recent graduate from the University of Michigan, Lisa Ritchie’s life has been split between a dedication to two passions - God and music.

Lisa formed the band Hush, Love in 2011. Hush, Love eventually was phased out as everyone pursued desk jobs, but Lisa continued to be drawn to music. “Some people know exactly what their style is and how to pursue it, but I find mine to be constantly changing, leading me to chase after a melody I just can’t write... yet.”

Influences range from Shania Twain to Death Cab for Cutie, , and . She also finds inspiration from newer artists like Milo Greene, Roo Panes and Lord Huron. Lisa’s songwriting has been shaped by the songs she never tires of, like “Title and Registrations!” by Death Cab for Cutie. “That is a song I will never be sick of listening to. So, I think that’s my goal: write a song that’s so good, you can listen to on repeat without getting tired of it. There’s some ‘mystical’ element in songs like that, they put feelings into words.” about: lisa A renewed drive to pursue her greatest passion

I’ve been standing at the edge of the music scene for about 5 years waiting for the opportunity to really invest in music. And it’s funny because I’ve had numerous opportunities literally handed to me, like being in a band with great musicians, recording an EP, playing on television and radio, being showcased at the Ark, etc. But I never chased it further on my own, never wanted it badly enough, never sacrificed finances or comfort to pursue it. I think that’s what’s different about this point in my life. I’m tired of living safely for the false security of financial stability, I’m so weary of comfort and ease. -Lisa Ritchie discography

Artist’s Note: While Hush, Love is no longer together, their music is still a part of Lisa’s journey as an artist. Their work demonstrates Lisa’s talents as a lead vocalist and songwriter. “ I want it to hold a rawness that Death Cab does, and a trueness that Ray Charles kept to, and the scale of emotion that George Gershwin composed in. And I want the words to have substance. That I figure out things about life while I’m writing it. I’m not sure how many albums I’ll have to make until I get the melodies and sounds I’m chasing, or even what style I’ll fall into, but that’s probably part of the journey you asked me about earlier. “
