The Playlist: The 1975, Panic! At The Disco, & Yellowcard August 29, 2013 By Kim Conway It’s not over yet, kids. We’ve still got a few days left of glorious summer (and August, for that matter). Before I start looking for new sweater-weather tunes, I want to wind down with three more sun- soaked ones. These artists all made my soundtrack to summer possible and I look forward to hearing new albums from some of them this fall. Our last summer jam session starts now: 1. The 1975 - Chocolate The 1975 have been around a while, but I only just discovered them on a hunt for a new alt-rock band to get hooked on. The first time I heard “Chocolate,” I fell in love with the guitar plucking along behind the accented vocals. It’s a little pop, a little indie, and a little alt-rock. While I still have yet to learn more than a few lyrics, this track scores for me in that it’s got a catchy melody and verses that keep me guessing. The 1975’s self-titled album comes out next Tuesday, September 3rd. 2. Panic! At The Disco – This Is Gospel Their album drop is still nearly two months away and I’m ridiculously addicted to the second track released from it. “This Is Gospel” opens with Brendon’s vocals accompanied by a heartbeat, then slowly picks up with a more solid rhythm. At the 0:36-second mark, the beat stops as Brendon screams, if you love me, let me go and the instrumental rushes back in.

POST-9/11 RHETORICAL THEORY AND COMPOSITION PEDAGOGY: FOSTERING TRAUMA RHETORICS AS CIVIC SPACE Robin Marie Merrick Murphy A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY August 2007 Committee: Kristine L. Blair, Advisor Geoffrey C. Howes Graduate Faculty Representative Richard C. Gebhardt Gary Heba © 2007 Robin M. Murphy All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Kristine L. Blair, Advisor Though a recent series in JAC (24:1&2, 2004) featured special issue on Trauma and Rhetoric, little to no information is available in the Composition and Rhetoric field that provides instructors a writing curriculum by which to address social traumas. At the same time, only in the last several years has there been a noteworthy surge of theory and practice in the field calling for the inclusion of technology and visual rhetoric in composition production. Add to that lack of training available for teachers to maintain the knowledge to meet the growth of new media and its influences on current literacy demands and classroom practices, and these omissions constitute significant gaps in curriculum needs necessary for the 21st Century, post-9/11 writing classroom. Defining the needs of a post-9/11 writing student is a complicated process and requires a wide scope consideration of both ancient rhetorical traditions and contemporary composition pedagogies. This study uncovers the common characteristics of those traditions and pedagogies that best suit post-9/11 students by first considering the historic role linking rhetorical and composition education while explicitly concentrating on their shared function of teaching citizenry.

  • Fuldblods Punkfest Med Yellowcard I Lille VEGA Til Februar
Southern Air I august udkom Yellowcards ottende album Southern Air. Se den HER.
