  • Terror the 25Th Hour ENG
th “The 25 Hour” Available as: Special Edition Digipak CD, LP, Digital Album European Release Date: August 7 th , 2015 For centuries we lived without fear of repercussion, as our greed and depravity has driven us to our collapse. We have lost all compassion for our fellow man and abused everything in sight. “The 25th Hour” is upon us. Terror formed in 2002 as a direct reaction to what was occurring in the underground musical scene that they called home. Disgusted with what was being presented and passed off as hardcore, they attempted to reclaim the bastardized genre by playing the music as it had originated; in its most raw, honest and angry form. Immediately, there was a connection with likeminded people across the globe, and led the band to continually play shows all over the world. Terror started as an idea, but quickly turned into a crusade. Terror captured the ferocity that the genre had been missing, and with their amazing work ethic and nihilistic approach to touring, they became the hardcore flag-bearers of this generation. Terror’s last few albums created movements immediately upon their release. The titles summed up the current climate of hardcore music and served as a rally cry for all its believers. Their new album follows this same suit. The current incarnation of the band, which features the longest tenured lineup in their history, assembled last fall with one intent: to act defiantly in “The 25th Hour.” If this is truly our potential climax, all would be stripped away and we would return to our most basic form.

  • Viking Interview: Q&A with Jamey Jasta by Daniel Offner When
Viking Interview: Q&A with Jamey Jasta By Daniel Offner When uttered, the name “Hatebreed” brings many things to mind, but what stands out most is the vocal talent of Jamey Jasta. Jasta, along with band mate Chris Beattie, founded the band in 1994 out of New Haven, Connecticut. Jasta is not only the lead singer of Hatebreed but has also gone off to do successful side projects with bands Icepick and Kingdom of Sorrow. He has also gone off to host MTV’s reincarnation of the 80’s hit program Headbanger’s Ball. This year Jamey will be touring with both Hatebreed (on the Jagermeister Music Tour) and Kingdom of Sorrow (at Ozzfest in Texas). The following is my Viking Interview with Jamey Jasta. Viking News: Where did the name Hatebreed come from? Jamey Jasta: “From the Misfits song ‘Hatebreeders’. We just took off the ‘e-r- s’.” VN: What inspired you guys to play music? JJ: “Well I think when me and (Chris) Beattie started the band we were already in other bands, and the other bands fizzled out. So to start this band and to play this music the inspiration was to do something bigger and better and more focused. But I think initially for both of us we were just drawn to music because of the community in itself.” VN: What type of bands influenced your style of music as a whole? JJ: “I would say bands like Slayer, Sepultura, Obituary, Entombed and more metal stuff like Carcass. On the hardcore side Agnostic Front, Killing Time, Sheer Terror, Integrity, Earth Crisis and bands like that.” VN: You mentioned Agnostic Front, which is playing the Dour Festival with you guys in Belgium.

  • Strapping Young Lad
THE DAYGLO’S AUSSIE TOUR #3 APRIL/MAY 2005 - ABSOLUTELY FREE PUNK, HARDCORE & METAL - THE SCUM ALSO RISES STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and shitloads more! ABSOLUTE EDITORIAL Absolute Editorial #3 Things are coming together nicely for us here at Absolute Underground. This is starting go be fun! We’re getting into a few free shows and people are starting to send in CD’s for us to review. We’ve got a lot of new people pitching in to make this rag better than ever. Emily Kendy joins us from Vancouver and brings with her a very impressive resume (The Nerve, Discorder, Terminal City, Exclaim...). We’ll be featuring a different Vancouver based band each issue starting with scum punks the Excessives. With the new Arena and Rod Stewart having played Victoria, you can just feel that this is going to be a great year for live music around town. I’m always impressed with the turnout and energy of the younger crowds at the all-ages shows. Even if you’re old you should go check one out sometime. You might find it invigorating to jump in a circle pit of mohawked fury. It was great hanging out with the crew at Spitfire Tattoo special thanks to Rick and Amanda. Electric Frankenstein was an amazing show and just proves that Victoria gets wicked shows all the time. A big middle finger to the asshole bouncers @ Diego’s who wouldn’t let me in even though I was on the guest list and then proceeded to tell the headlining act CHOKE to “pack their shit, they weren’t going to play.” This was after two huge idiots working the door beat up CHOKE’s drummer who weighs about a buck ten soaking wet.

  • Blink-182 Heads to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City
For Immediate Release BLINK-182 HEADS TO HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO ATLANTIC CITY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 AT 7 PM Atlantic City, NJ (July 23, 2018) – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City welcomes pop- punk rockers blink-182 to Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena on Friday, September 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets are on-sale this Friday, July 27 at 10 a.m. “We are always stoked to get back on the road and play for our fans” say blink-182. “We’re looking forward to playing really fun shows for you all.” Since their humble beginnings twenty-five years ago, when they started playing in a San Diego garage, blink-182 has sold over fifty million albums worldwide and rocked audiences from Adelaide to Zurich having become one of the defining rock bands of their generation. They combine high-energy dynamics with an artistic ambition that transcends any genre. Now with Matt Skiba (of Alkaline Trio) as singer/guitarist, the group has entered a new chapter. Early in 2016, Skiba finally entered the studio with bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker. Although the band had written more than 30 songs in the months before the sessions, once they started working with producer John Feldmann, they soon discarded all the old material and California was born. While blink-182 has already racked up more than their fair share of platinum records and blockbuster singles, Hoppus emphasized, "We're not just a greatest-hits band, although we will play the hits. Blink is alive and well and we're excited about doing cool new stuff.” According to The New York Times, "No punk band of the 1990s has been more influential than blink-182.” Tickets for blink-182 ranging from $39.00 to $59.00 go on sale this Friday, July 27 at 10 AM.

  • Mike D’S Top 5 Must See December Shows
Mike D’s Top 5 Must See December Shows 1. Saturday, Dec 9: “Don’t Break Down” – A Film About Jawbreaker; 8pm doors / 9pm show; $10; All ages; Columbus Theatre, 270 Broadway, PVD. I used to write a ‘zine with my friend Brian Jannarelli back in our punk rock high days. We used the platform mostly to get in touch with our musical punk indie heroes (and make fun of local adults as we saw fit). I got the chance to interview Adam from Jawbreaker & J Robbins from Jawbox; the two were on tour together in ’95 and played at Lupos II. Getting in touch with bands was very different back then, as was how bands would develop. Would a band like Jawbreaker have been able to develop in the same timeframe today, as they had in the decade from mid ’80s to their demise in ’96 – from touring the unknown country beyond the West Coast / Gilman Street, and developing their craft over three albums before the majors came knocking? Or would the band have been better off skipping the old indie punk model – as today, when their base wouldn’t have felt alienated by the band’s moving on to a major label and a different sound? Their major label record, Dear You, was definitely ahead of its time. I haven’t seen this movie yet, but I look forward to seeing the footage from that time, an almost-soundtrack to my high school life and also a relic to the punk promotion days before the internet and the end of the fan’s fierce loyalty to indie efforts.
