The Playlist: The 1975, Panic! At The Disco, & Yellowcard August 29, 2013 By Kim Conway It’s not over yet, kids. We’ve still got a few days left of glorious summer (and August, for that matter). Before I start looking for new sweater-weather tunes, I want to wind down with three more sun- soaked ones. These artists all made my soundtrack to summer possible and I look forward to hearing new albums from some of them this fall. Our last summer jam session starts now: 1. The 1975 - Chocolate The 1975 have been around a while, but I only just discovered them on a hunt for a new alt-rock band to get hooked on. The first time I heard “Chocolate,” I fell in love with the guitar plucking along behind the accented vocals. It’s a little pop, a little indie, and a little alt-rock. While I still have yet to learn more than a few lyrics, this track scores for me in that it’s got a catchy melody and verses that keep me guessing. The 1975’s self-titled album comes out next Tuesday, September 3rd. 2. Panic! At The Disco – This Is Gospel Their album drop is still nearly two months away and I’m ridiculously addicted to the second track released from it. “This Is Gospel” opens with Brendon’s vocals accompanied by a heartbeat, then slowly picks up with a more solid rhythm. At the 0:36-second mark, the beat stops as Brendon screams, if you love me, let me go and the instrumental rushes back in.

  • 1 the PSALMS' GREATEST HITS 7) Wonder Psalm 8 / Palm 19: 1-6 Rev
THE PSALMS’ GREATEST HITS 7) Wonder Psalm 8 / Palm 19: 1-6 Rev. Ron Dunn August 28, 2016 Over the past six weeks, we have considered some of the Psalms’ greatest hits as we have touched upon the themes of God’s absence and presence, upon our need for confession and grace, upon the importance of trust and joy. Not only have we considered the written texts of various Psalms that speak to the basic reality of our human condition, but we have paired them with the selected musical expressions of Bono, Van Morrison, the Pretenders, Leonard Cohen and Farrell. From a preaching standpoint, it has been fun to think about the linkage that many of these contemporary songs have with these ancient texts. Though they may express themselves with different words, the hunger and the hope that lies behind them is often much the same. This morning, our series concludes on an appropriate note—the note of wonder. I say, “appropriate,” because, if you look closely, you will find that the thread of wonder is woven throughout the tapestry of the entire Book of Psalms. Even in Psalms of lament and despair, we often discover that there is, at least, a passing reference to the Psalmist’s sense of wonder over the beauty and goodness of God. Even the pain and suffering of the current struggle cannot keep the writer from affirming his or her sense of wonder over the greatness of God and God’s creation. Our two selected Psalms of the morning, however, are not Psalms of lament, but just the opposite.

west coast music Encore Please find attached the Encore Band song list for your review. SPECIAL DANCES for Weddings: Please note that we will need to have your special dance requests, (I.E. First Dance, F/D Dance, etc) FOUR WEEKS prior to your event so that we can confirm the band will be able to perform the song(s) and so that we have time to locate sheet music and audio of the song(s). In some cases where sheet music is not available or an arrangement for the full band is needed, this gives us time to properly prepare the music. Clients are not obligated to submit a list of general song requests. Many of our clients ask that the band just react to whatever their guests are responding to on the dance floor. Our clients that do provide us with song requests do so in varying degrees. Most clients give us a handful of songs they want played and/or avoided. If you desire the highest degree of control (asking the band to only play within the margin of songs requested), we would ask for a minimum 80 requests from the band’s songlist. Please feel free to call us at the office should you have any questions. – West Coast Music SONGLIST: At Last – Etta James 1,2,3,4 – Plain White T’s Baby Got Back – Sir Mix A Lot 24K Magic – Bruno Mars Back at One – Boyz II Men A Thousand Years – Christina Bad Day – Daniel Powter Perri Ballad Of John & Yoko Ain’t too Proud to Beg – Bamboleo – Gipsy Kings Temptations Bang my Head – David Guetta/Sia Adventure of a Lifetime – Beast of Burden – Rolling Stones Coldplay Beautiful Day – U2 After All – Peter Cetera/Cher

POST-9/11 RHETORICAL THEORY AND COMPOSITION PEDAGOGY: FOSTERING TRAUMA RHETORICS AS CIVIC SPACE Robin Marie Merrick Murphy A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY August 2007 Committee: Kristine L. Blair, Advisor Geoffrey C. Howes Graduate Faculty Representative Richard C. Gebhardt Gary Heba © 2007 Robin M. Murphy All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Kristine L. Blair, Advisor Though a recent series in JAC (24:1&2, 2004) featured special issue on Trauma and Rhetoric, little to no information is available in the Composition and Rhetoric field that provides instructors a writing curriculum by which to address social traumas. At the same time, only in the last several years has there been a noteworthy surge of theory and practice in the field calling for the inclusion of technology and visual rhetoric in composition production. Add to that lack of training available for teachers to maintain the knowledge to meet the growth of new media and its influences on current literacy demands and classroom practices, and these omissions constitute significant gaps in curriculum needs necessary for the 21st Century, post-9/11 writing classroom. Defining the needs of a post-9/11 writing student is a complicated process and requires a wide scope consideration of both ancient rhetorical traditions and contemporary composition pedagogies. This study uncovers the common characteristics of those traditions and pedagogies that best suit post-9/11 students by first considering the historic role linking rhetorical and composition education while explicitly concentrating on their shared function of teaching citizenry.

  • Fuldblods Punkfest Med Yellowcard I Lille VEGA Til Februar
Southern Air I august udkom Yellowcards ottende album Southern Air. Samtidig blev den officielle video til nummeret ”Here I Am Alive” eksklusivt offentliggjort på MTV flere steder i verdenen. Se den HER.
