Executive Summary 2.1 The report sets out the Public Holiday dates in Edinburgh for 2021 – 2027, advises Council of a clash of the Spring Holiday date with Easter Monday in the years 2022 and 2025, and seeks approval of an alternative Spring Holiday date. 2.2 The report also notes the UK Government’s announcement of an additional public holiday to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 70th anniversary as monarch in summer 2022. The full implications of this for Edinburgh are yet to be determined. A further report will be brought back to Council on this matter. 3. Background 3.1 Local public holidays have been developed over many years on a local basis with care specifically taken to avoid a clash of holiday dates between different areas in Scotland.     transport guide FOREWORD The Moray Forum is a constituted voluntary organisation that was established to provide a direct link between the Area Forums and the Moray Community Planning Partnership. The Forum is made up of two representatives of each of the Area Forums and meets on a regular basis. Further information about The Moray Forum is available on: www.yourmoray.org.uk Area Forums are recognised by the Moray Community Planning Partnership as an important means of engaging local people in the Community Planning process. In rural areas - such as Moray - transport is a major consideration, so in September 2011 the Moray Forum held its first transport seminar to look at the issues and concerns that affect our local communities in respect of access to transport. Two actions that came from that event was the establishment of a Passenger Forum and a Transport Providers Network. This work was taken forward by the Moray Forum Transport Working Group made up of representatives of the Area Forums, Moray Council, NHS Grampian, tsiMORAY, and community transport schemes. In September 2013 the Working Group repeated the seminar to see how much progress had been made on the actions and issues identified in 2011. As a direct result of the work of the Group this Directory has been produced in order to address an on-going concern that has been expressed of the lack of information on what transport is available in Moray, the criteria for accessing certain transport services, and where to go for further advice. The Moray Forum Transport Working Group would like to acknowledge the help of all the people who provided information for this Directory, and thereby made a contribution towards the integration of public, private and community transport services within Moray.

    Aberdeen History Trail The city through its historical times #aberdeentrails #aberdeentrails Aberdeen is bursting full of history! From its ancient origins to medieval burghs and King Robert The Bruce, from the Jacobite connections to the expansion in the Edwardian and Victorian times, the ‘Silver City by the Golden Sands’ has a long, important, and interesting history with many of its people contributing to the wider world. The city started out as three separate royal burghs – Old Aberdeen, New Aberdeen and Torry plus the parish of Woodside – which expanded and merged together to form the city as a whole. There was a major expansion in the Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian eras as the city made its first fortunes based on fishing, granite quarrying and shipbuilding and many of the grand buildings were built during these times. It also included the main thoroughfare, Union Street, which was raised up away from the mud and dirt and built on a series of bridges – it was such a major project it almost bankrupted the city! Recommendations 1.1 Council is invited to • Agree that the Chief Executive write to the Local Government Boundary Commission seeking a meeting to explore the possibility of the Commission broadening the scope of their current review to include rural wards of super sparsity. • Agree that the Council write to the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Local Government to highlight issues around the methodology used in boundary reviews and to make the case for additional flexibility over the number of members for rural wards. 2. Background 2.1 The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland and the Scottish Ministers are obliged, under section 28(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 to implement electoral arrangements in accordance with section 1 of the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004. Currently this includes the requirement for there to be three or four councillors returned per electoral ward in Scotland. 2.2 The Islands (Scotland) Act 2018 amends the 2004 Act to provide an exception to the usual three or four member rule for electoral wards in relation to wards which consist either wholly or partly of one or more inhabited islands.
