This encompasses considerable experience in every aspect of science based marine conservation work from the design of survey, monitoring and impact assessment, through wet and dirty field implementation, to management planning and face-to-face engagement with stakeholders. The length and breadth of my first hand experience of attempting to implement and deliver marine nature conservation gives me a unique, and arguably the most comprehensive perspective of MPA management of any relevant professional in Wales and a considerable amount to contribute to this inquiry. Further detail is included in Annex 1. The comments included herein are my personal professional views derived from extensive experience and knowledge and/or reliable source evidence.     Local Development Plan Draft Review (LDP2: 2017 – 2033) Strategic Housing Options Supplementary Paper Defining Settlement Clusters 1. Introduction This paper has been prepared to assist the review of the Local Development Plan and specifically relates to the potential approach to Settlement Clusters discussed within the ‘Strategic Housing Options Paper’. That paper will assist in identifying alternative options for future housing development within urban and rural areas of the County outside of the National Park. The Authority is currently working towards establishing a Preferred Strategy and is preparing a draft vision and objectives for the Plan. These will be available for public consultation Summer 2018. A range of information has been gathered about services available at individual settlements, which is set out in the Rural Facilities Paper 2017. The information gathered allows us to understand the role and function currently performed by settlements and is used to inform the settlement hierarchy for the LDP review. The purpose of this supplementary paper is to set out an approach to settlement clusters at the lower end of the settlement hierarchy. Settlements at the lower end of the settlement hierarchy are called Large Local Villages and Small Local Villages within the Local Development Plan hierarchy. (They are proposed as ‘Local Villages’ within the Rural Facilities Paper). This paper is not intended to set out locations where development can take place, but to identify a clear methodology for clusters of settlements, and taking account of the settlement hierarchy established as part of the LDP2 Review and published within the Rural Facilities Background Paper 2017. It is supplementary to the Strategic Housing Options Paper where the rural housing option of Clusters is considered along with other options for housing at Local Villages.

    PROGRAMME 3 THE NORMAN CONQUEST OF PEMBROKESHIRE Introduction. We’re walking through Pembrokeshire and Britain’s only coastal national park to discover how a group of French-speaking warriors turned this corner of Wales into a place still known as ‘Little England beyond Wales’. Home to miles of rugged coast line, beautiful beaches and incredible wildlife, it’s a landscape and culture heavily shaped by the Normans. Unlike the knockout victory of Hastings, this conquest was a long, fiercely fought struggle. Over time the Normans turned a Welsh speaking Kingdom into an English speaking shire dominated by castles, churches and the amazing cathedral in the city of St Davids. .Walking Through History Day 1 . From St Davids, we’ll make our way along the coastal cliffs, learning about the Norman’s first meetings with the native Welsh. We’ll start by walking in the footsteps of England’s greatest warrior king – William the Conqueror. St Davids to Newgale via Pembrokeshire Coastal Path Distance: 10 miles Day 2 . Heading inland, we’re walking the rough frontier the Norman’s fought to create with the rest of Wales. We’ll trace this boundary – or Landsker Line – that formed as Normans and Flemings flooded in, past early defences at Hayscastle and Wolfcastle. Climbing Great Treffgarne Mountain gives the perfect look out over the landscape facing the invaders. Finally we head south-west, to discover how the native Welsh fought back as I reach Wiston. Newgale to Wiston via Hayscastle, Wolfcastle and Great Treffgarne Mountain Distance: 20 miles Day 3 . The River Cleddau is our guide on Day 3, as we find out how a stunning welsh princess seduced Normans, Welsh and English alike.
