We must use this money wisely—not only to recover and improve our communities, but also to prepare for the future threats that climate change will inevitably bring. Studies suggest hurricanes will become more intense and there is scientific consensus that we will experience sea level rise of up to two feet by 2050. It is important for us to acknowledge this and to use this rare opportunity to rebuild for long-term success.
