Bouma, MayorJohn Henrv et al: City of Oshawa has a GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP AND TRANSPARENCY PROBLEM: To be placed on the next public consent agenda, unedited and on the PUBLIC CITY OFOSHAWA WEBSITE, BECAUSE CLERKS AND OR STAFF, IS BURYING INFO FROM RESIDENTS DAY AFTER DAY: With respect, anything you are involved in, is a scandal politically in this town and perhaps other adjacent municipalities. Anything you touch, or have your gutless backdoor hands on with no due respect, BECOMES a kangaroo court, in this city. You banish residents and support doing so, with NO reasons or due diligence and then steal taxpayer monie.s, time and again, to litigate your collective way out ofmesses, that are mounting in this city, like most ofthe rest of your council mates, targeting GOOD residents, who simply dare oppose you. Like Counc. Amy England, a so-called social justice advocate.... but then again... the Cullens claim to be the same that she chwns around with. Like proving at council meetings you are willing to let resident Bill Steele and others yell out anything they want and not run them from the meeting and or issue them trespass orders, but you will to REAL activists???? Really? You have set the standard with: APPREHENSION OF EXTREME BIAS AND PREJUDICE AGAINST A HANDFUL OF RESIDENTS CRITICAL OF YOUR AGENDA. Not very fiscally responsible ofyou and your card carrying members of the Cons. Party locally that sit on council with you, and others like you. Running a secretive Police State agenda in the town I was born and raised in. Shame on you, Chapman (former high ranking police and militia officer), Aker, Diamond, England, Pidwerbecki and the spineless mayor here John Henry who wonders why residents are pissed off and upset with the mess YOU COLLECTIVELY HAVE CAUSED!! It is scandal after scandal with you clowns! Unbelievable!! You sir, actually give Conservatives a bad name. And that is saying a lot. You and your council mates, many ofthem, are among the worst creatures I have come across. It seems even some ofthe most blue ofTorics are 1 getting sick ofyou and Henry and some of the other cowards running this city and stealing from citizens in various ways. Civil Liberties not the least ofour concerns. You are puppets. SOME City hall senior staffare making some good councillors look like idiots, when tl1ey are trying to do right by residents, and that is who you know is running the show in there. And running our city into the ground. Barry Dutton. Resident, taxpayer, The UnCouncillor. ote: It has been brought to my attention that you commenced the following thread from a Facebook account that is blocked to many in the community. '~ ,•iay n::!al O;.,a.. ·a, Ontado "Questions raised by councillors about Mr. Rust-D'Eye's independence will continue to be raised by the public. That being said, his credentials are remarkable. He's been certified as a specialist in municipal law by the Law Society of Upper Canada, he's taught municipal law and he has written and lectured extensively in the area of municipal law" Regrettably I missed the Tuesday evening council meeting because of illness. For those who would rather believe that I was ducking my responsibility please let me be clear. If I had attended I would have supported the motion to appoint Mr. Rust-D'Eye. I believe this process will lead to a full discovery and disclosure of the facts. Mr. Rust-D'Eye's resume is impeccable from his start as a solicitor for Metropolitan Toronto, to his roles as integrity commissioner for other GTA municipalities. He has written and lectured on almost every aspect of municipal law. Should he have been excluded from consideration because at one time he did some work for our city or because the firm that he was previously associated with has more recently represented our city's interest? The reality is that Mr. Rust D'Eye has likely assisted every municipality if the GTA, and beyond, in one capacity or another. He's that good. I am thankful that some councillors did their homework and came prepared with a workable solution. In doing so they avoided turning our council chambers into a kangaroo court. Now let's let Mr. Rust-D'Eye do his job. I completely agree with you regarding his credentials. It is unfortunate the questions to the City Solicitor, went unanswered when trying to establish exactly how independent the relationship is with the City and with some of those mentioned in the report. 23 i·lay a[ 11:52 · Like · 1 • [§] Linda Tamburro With all due respect Roger, no one is questioning this man's credentials. The problem is how and why he was handpicked for this investigation. Is the hiring of a lawyer the right way to go? It was apparent to anyone that was at the May 21 meeting that the decision to hire Mr. Rust D' Eye was made behind closed doors by a chosen few. I'd like to know if Ron Foster was even consulted since the issue stemmed from his report. Delegations spoke to the matter but it was apparent that anything they had to say would have had no bearing on what was to play out. IMO it was wrong and I will go as far as to say it was dirty politics. 23 May at 13:33 · Like · 2 • [§] Michele Coady Lopers George It's a shame we make judgements on a persons abilities based on the name they choose for their business. I praise councils abilities to see past that and hire the best! 24 May at 18:58 · Like • [§] Louise Parkes George Rust D'Eye has established working relationships with at least one member of Oshawa Council and sat on a Panel With David Potts in April2013 as per a published flyer. He also was a partner in Weir Foulds until February 2013, a firm that has done almost 1 million in business with the City in the last three years. These facts were not disclosed under direct questioning by either Mr. Potts, Councillor Diamond or the Mayor during the Council meeting. I expect this is leading to public skepticism about his appointment. I know Mr. Rust D'Eye's reputation is highly regarded but I believe Council should have appointed someone without prior working relationship with the City. Sheila Fraser is now retired and would certainly been a good choice, or perhaps a reliable referral source. Roger, do you know why the Mayor and Council did not ask Mr. Foster to speak to his report? Isn't our Auditor highly credentialed with an excellent reputation in his own right? Did the public not deserve the opportunity to hear him speak to his report? On a personal note I hope all is well with your family, we missed you on Monday. Sunday at 15:14 · Like · 1 • ~ Mark Little Roger he may be all that and a bag if chips, but the public wants answers and they want no one from council trying to white wash the process. We wanted an independent and untainted investigation. Mr. RustD'Eye has too many connections to the City and council members like Nancy Diamond who clearly didn't need this meeting to decide on this gentlemen. Justice must seen to be done ... and we are not sure on whether this is it or not. Sun<lay at 15:27 · like · 1 • [@] Tim Bird My suggestion, for what it's worth: 1/ Contact Durham College, and ask them for an extension on the real estate transaction. (The AG report is the biggest news to hit Oshawa in recent history - and this transaction is front and centre in the report). 2/ Ask the Province to appoint an investigator who has no previous relationship to anyone on council, or in senior City management.
