The study focused on the invertebrates of the habitats covered by the Habitats Directive (92/43/ EEC). The species list we present here contains 465 species in total, among them some remarkable species as Cyphon kongs- bergensis, Crenitis punctatostriata, Deliphrum algidum, Hydroporus melanarius, Hydrosmecta carinthiaca, Ochthephilus aureus and Pselaphaulax dresdensis. Activity denstities of some bog species differ most notably in bog habitats: Cyphon kongsbergensis, Enochrus affinis, Crenitis punctatostriata, Pterostichus diligens and Pterostichus rhaeticus showed high densities in active raised bog and transition mires, but absence or low densities in degraded raised bog. -

The results of a year-long beetle research in the protected area of the Velikonoční rybník Nature Monument are presented. Altogether 317 beetle species from 43 families were found during the research. Thirteen species are regis- tered in the regional red list of threatened species. Contacyphon kongsbergensis Munster, 1929 belongs to the most valu- able species discovered in the area. Phyllotreta flexuosa (Illiger, 1794) is newly recorded species for western Bohemia. Blagoy A. Gruev !" #$ %&#' %( )&'( * A COMPARATIVE LIST OF THE LEAF BEETLES OF THE BALKAN COUNTRIES (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE) Blagoy A. Gruev Department of Zoology, University of Plovdiv, Tzar Assen Street 24, BG-4000, Bulgaria INTRODUCTION VIKTOR APFELBECK (1912, 1914, 1916) published for the first time a complete faunistic information about all the leaf bettle taxa established in the Balkan Peninsula. He summarized the literature data and brought a large contribution of his own to the knowledge of the family Chrysomelidae including the results of his expeditions in a number of Balkan countries. Later works by various authors on leaf beetles of separate parts of the peninsula have been appeared, most extensive of which are those of: ROUBAL (1931-1934), NOVAK (1952, 1970), MÜLLER (1953), MOHR (1965, 1966), NONVEILLER (1978, 1984), GRUEV (1979, 1990, 1992, 1998), GRUEV and TOMOV (1984, 1986, 1998), BRELIH, DÖBERL, DROVENIK and PIRNAT (2003). The total number of the Chrysomelidae taxa of the Balkan Peninsula after Apfelbeck is 477. The present number (having in mind newly recorded and newly described taxa as well as synonyms and other nomenclaturial changes) of the established taxa is 791. Between 120 and 130 have been originally described on the basis of material from the Balkan Peninsula. 23 A comparative list… LIST OF THE TAXA ESTABLISHED IN THE BALKAN COUNTRIES: (Abbreviations: I – Italy [Balkan part], Sl –Slovenia [Balkan part], Cr – Croatia [Balkan part], Mg – Montenegro, BH – Bosnia-Herzegovina, M – -

ŞTEFAN NEGREA Phd (November 09, 1930 – February 20, 2019)
IN MEMORIAM ŞTEFAN NEGREA PhD (November 09, 1930 – February 20, 2019) A life dedicated to the study on the creatures of the dark and damp underground caves A life dedicated to speleology – Light from the dark The scientific community of Romanian biologists, as well as many lovers of nature or hiking, have been deeply saddened by the news of the famous biospeleologist Dr. Ștefan Negrea’s disappearance, witness to the renaissance of the Emil Racoviţă Institute of Speleology in Bucharest, later becoming one of its most renowned scholars, known everywhere at home and abroad for his papers of speleology, ecology and zoology, especially for those on cladoceran crustaceans and chilopods. Dr. Ștefan Negrea left us discreetly, lonely after the loss of his dear wife and collaborator on the road of science – Dr. Alexandrina Negrea – Didina, as he usually called her. Dr. Ștefan Negrea left behind a radiant light of his speleological and hydrobiological research in Romania and abroad. Dr. Ștefan Negrea highlighted the life and work of some great personalities of Romanian biology. ROM. J. BIOL. – ZOOL., VOLUME 64, Nos. 1–2, P. 3–16, BUCHAREST, 2019 4 In memoriam Ştefan Negrea PhD 2 Dr. Ștefan Negrea spoke to scientists, and to the media, about the caves in our country and elsewhere, showing their treasures, the creatures of the world without sun, with their amazing adaptations. Dr. Ștefan Negrea worked at the Institute of Speleology of the Romanian Academy, an institution reborn after 1956, under the direction of Emeritus Professor Constantin Motaș (1891–1980). We can say that Ștefan Negrea was linked by speleology, for life, mostly due to Professor Constantin Motaş, who later, prefacing a book, characterized him as follows: “Ștefan Negrea is a naturalist by vocation, and in his veins is flowing a restless blood of an explorer…”. -
