GUS CEREIJO - congas/percussion Working from the heart and the ear, the project decrypts the social sound memories TAD KOYANO - voice, poetry of this sensation-saturated, novelty-hungry age that we find ourselves a part of in DAVE WALLIS - harmonica the twenty first century. LEIF GIFFORD - projection MARIANNA JOSLIN - dance Throughout 2010, on a monthly basis, the project’s musical landscapes will explore BUTTERFLY SAM - dance the sensual appeal of fetishism through sound with a particular focus on JAN BAKER-FINCH - movement spontaneity, primal energy and individuality going against the traditional clichés of JOHN RODGERS - bush poet/musicologist eroticism. The musical language is discrete and operates on a microscopic level, LAWRENCE ENGLISH - media art able to stimulate the sensibilities of those willing to open their ears to the universe ROBIN FOX - sound artist of sonic possibilities. ANTHONY PATERAS - sound artist Influences Charlie Parker Furthermore, every advance in the aesthetics of improvisation - whether Eric Dolphy evolutionary or revolutionary has required an equal reconsideration of the music's Thelonius Monk performative identity. This has manifested itself in various ways partially due to the Wayne Shorter simultaneous struggle for democratic, social, and civil rights. Contemporary Art Cecil Taylor improvisers seek to loosen the shackles of the performer to allow them additional Miles Davis freedom to determine the development, details, or shape of a given improvisation. Ralph Towner Kenny Wheeler He won the National Jazz Saxophone Competition in 1995 and the Optus National John Taylor Jazz Travelling Scholarship in 1998. Elliott has received over 30 grants from the John Surman Australia Council and State Art funding bodies, for his arts projects nationally, and Eberhard Weber has been commercially released on over 35 CDs nationally and internationally. He Joe Zawinul has toured to over 40 countries but loves to return to Byron Bay, his home town, Chick Corea whenever he can. He presently works as a Barrister-at-Law and saxophonist.     Normando Carneiro OS COMPOSITORES E SEU TEMPO Normando Carneiro Natal 2018 1 Os Compositores de seu tempo Normando Carneiro Vivaldi, Antonio (1678-1741) Compositor e violinista italiano, o mais influente de sua época. Nasceu em 04/03/1678 em Veneza, estudou com seu pai, violinista na catedral de San Marcos. Ordenou-se sacerdote em 1703, chamavam-no interprete russo (o cura ruivo), e começou a ensinar no Ospedale della Pietá que era um estabelecimento para meninas órfãs. Trabalhou ali como diretor musical até 1740, como professor e compunha concertos e oratórios para os concertos semanais através dos que conseguiu uma fama internacional. A partir de 1713 Vivaldi também trabalhou como compositor e empresário de óperas em Veneza e viajava a Roma, Mantua e outras cidades para supervisionar as representações de suas óperas. Para 1740 entrou ao serviço do corte do imperador Carlos VI em Viena. Faleceu nesta cidade o 28 de julho de 1741. Composições Vivaldi escreveu mais de 500 concertos e 70 sonatas, 45 óperas, música religiosa como o oratório Judithatriumphans (1716), a Glória em re (1708), missas e motetes. Suas sonatas instrumentais são mais conservadoras que seus concertos e sua música religiosa com frequencia reflete o estilo operístico da época e a alternância de orquestra e solistas que ajudou a introduzir nos concertos. The Early Medieval Music (500-1150). i. Early chant traditions Chant (or plainsong) is a monophonic sacred form which represents the earliest known music of the Christian Church. The simplest, syllabic chants, in which each syllable is set to one note, were probably intended to be sung by the choir or congregation, while the more florid, melismatic examples (which have many notes to each syllable) were probably performed by soloists. Plainchant melodies (which are sometimes referred to as a “drown,” are characterized by the following: A monophonic texture; For ease of singing, relatively conjunct melodic contour (meaning no large intervals between one note and the next) and a restricted range (no notes too high or too low); and Rhythms based strictly on the articulation of the word being sung (meaning no steady dancelike beats). Chant developed separately in several European centers, the most important being Rome, Hispania, Gaul, Milan and Ireland. Chant was developed to support the regional liturgies used when celebrating Mass. Each area developed its own chant and rules for celebration. In Spain and Portugal, Mozarabic chant was used, showing the influence of North Afgican music. The Mozarabic liturgy survived through Muslim rule, though this was an isolated strand and was later suppressed in an attempt to enforce conformity on the entire liturgy.
