Flood Situation of Uttarakhand: Flash floods triggered by heavy rain and washed away 16 roads and 10 bridges in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, currently cutting off access to 41 villages with some 18,000 residents.

Flood situation in upstream area, in (Mahakali): Due to effects of this, water in Sharda River and also rain fall in upstream areas of Mahakali (Sharda) River, water level arisen in Parigaon DHM station, Nepal with nearest warning level is 5.34 on 2nd July 2018. Currently the water level of the Mahakali (Sharda) River is 4.452 Miter and trend is falling in Parigaon DHM station, Nepal. Details of the water level from 27 June to till date is given below (Pic 1)

Flood situation in downstream areas of , : As per flood bulletin ((3rd July 2108)) of irrigation department, the Sharda River is flowing 0.230 Miter above danger level (153.620 Miter) in Paliyakala, Lakhimpur and currently trend of this river is rising. It’s flowing below danger level 1.420 Miter (135.490 Miter) in Shardanagar. The rainfall 171.4 MM in Banbasa, 118 MM in Paliyakalan ad 100 MM in Shardanagar were also contributed in worsening the situation in last three days. As per Dainik Jagran Newspaper (Page no.3), the Banbasa Barrage had discharged 117000 Qu. water. It will affect Mahsi Areas by today evening. Currently there is no flood situation but river belly is almost full.

Flood situation in upstream area, Nepal in Karnali (Ghaghra River): From 30th of June 2018, water level of Karnali River is rising due to rain fall in upstream areas in last three days. Now the current water level is 7.66 Miter and its steady and also flowing below danger level. The given below details (picture 2) showing the water level from 27 June to till date :

Flood situation in downstream areas of Uttar Pradesh, India: As per flood bulletin (3rd July 2108) of irrigation department, the Ghaghra River is flowing 3.510 Meter below danger level (136.780 Miter) and now steady at B.K. Ghat, , Its flowing 3.140 Meter below danger level (106.070 Miter) at Elgin charsadi bridge (Barabanki district), its flowing 3.300 Meter below danger level (89.430 Miter) at Ayodhya and trend of this river is rising. The rainfall recorded 155 mm in B.K. Ghat, 15.3 MM recorded in Elgrin bridge (Barabanki district) and Ayodhya recorded 32 mm in last three days. Currently there is no flood situation but river belly having almost full in Mihpurawan and Mahsi Blocks. The most vulnerable embankment for is Rewali Adampur embankment and SDM Kaisarganj visited in vulnerable locations. More than 12 villages affected by flooding of Saryu River and currently the water is overflowing from river. The Newada pure Kasbati and road from Nanpara to Rampur Dhobiya has been closed due to erosion from the both sided in Ekdhara and Chadighat.

Flood situation in upstream area, Nepal in (Saryu River) at Chepang: The water level is increasing in the Babai River from 2 July 2018 due to rain fall in upstream areas from last three days. Now the current water level is 4.003 Meter and it is steady and also flowing below danger level. The water level arisen on 2 July (5.79 Meter) due to rain fall 107 mm in nearest areas and crossed warning level. The given below details (picture 3) showing the water level from 27 June to till date as follows:

situation in upstream area, Nepal in at Kusum: The water level has increased in the Karnali River from 2 July 2018 due to rain fall in upstream areas in last three days now the current water level 4.34 Miter and it’s steady and also flowing below danger level. The water level rising on 2 July (4.89 Miter) due to rain fall 85.2 mm (30 June), 37 MM (1 July), 84 MM (2 July) in nearest areas and crossed warning level. Flood situation in downstream areas of Uttar Pradesh, India: As per flood bulletin (3rd July 2108) of irrigation department, the Rapti River is flowing 2.670 Miter below danger level (131 Miter) and now rising. It is flowing 3.100 Meter below danger level (104.620 Miter) in (district Balrampur) and trend is rising, 4.350 Miter below danger level (84.900 Miter) in (District Siddhartha Nagar) and trend of this river is rising. Its flowing more than 5 Meter below from Rigauli and Birdghat

(Distrcit ) and trend is falling. The Jamunhan and Parsona roads are eroded and more than 12 villages are disconnected from main roads or markets.

 Babai (Saryu): Water Level :2.588m, Trend: Steady, Danger Level: 7 M, Rainfall :18.8mm(24Hrs)  Bhada Bridge: Water Level :4.307m, Trend: Steady  Karnali (Ghaghra): Water Level :5.962m, Trend: Steady, Danger Level: 7 M, Rainfall :11.6mm(24Hrs)  West Rapti : Water Level :3.986m, Trend: Steady, Danger Level: 7 M, Rainfall :16.6mm(24Hrs)  Sharda River : Water Level :3.823m, Trend: Falling , Danger Level: 7 M

Conclusion: The current impact of 461mm Rainfall (96HRS) in Babai Catchment Area,700 mm Rainfall (96HRS) in Rapti Catchment Area and also rain fall in Uttarakhand. No forecasting of raoinfall in next 24 hrs in above mentioned rivers catchment areas by DHM Nepal

Flood situation in downstream areas of Uttar Pradesh, India: As per flood bulletin (4th July 2108) of irrigation department,

 Ghaghra River flowing 2.00 Meter below danger level (136.780 Miter) and now rising at B.K. Ghat, Bahraich, Its flowing 2.420 Meter below danger level (106.070 Miter) at Elgin charsadi bridge (Barabanki district) and trend is rising, its flowing 3.210 Meter below danger level (89.430 Miter) at Ayodhya and trend of this river is rising.  Rapti River is flowing 2.060 Miter below danger level (131 Miter) and now steady. It is flowing 1.520 Meter below danger level (104.620 Miter) in Balrampur (district Balrampur) and trend is rising, 1.050 Meter below danger level (118.450 Miter) in Bhinga (district Shrawsti) and trend is rising, 4.290 Miter below danger level (84.900 Miter) in Bansi (District Siddhartha Nagar) and trend of this river is falling. Its flowing 3.180 Miter in Rigauli below danger level (77.120 Miter) and trend is rising. Its flowing 4.480 Miter in Birdghat (District Gorakhpur) below danger level (70.500) and trend is rising.  Sharda River is flowing 0.740 Miter across danger level (154.360 Miter) in Paliyakalan, Lakhimpurkhiri and trend is increasing. Its flowing 1.210 Miter in Shardanagar below danger level (134.280 Miter) and trend is increasing.

Ground impact of the flood in districts Bahraich, Balrampur (As per dianik Jagran News paper)

 Bahraich: 70 villages flood affected in Shivpur block of the district Bahraich, The Rampur dhobiyahara road disconnected from Nanpara due river erosion and also 50 villages disconnected from main markets, The district administration had issued alerts in 98 villages due to flood. 4.70 Lakh Quesec water discharged from Girijapuri barrage and it will increase water level by evening today.  Balrampur: The flood water entered in 24 villages of the district Balrampur and 80 village having marooned  Balrampur: 24 villages disconnected from administration offices and these are flood affected.

Role of PGVS and Indo Nepal Flood Early Warning Network:

 Coordination with district, sub division, Gram Panchayat and villages level officers and PRI members along with our village task force members.  Collection of village wise flood impact information and sharing with relevant person as per Trans border early warning communication channel  The Task force members disseminated 3 level alert message in the villages of the Bahraich district which are located nearby Suryu river and 2 alert warning disseminated in rest vulnerable villages  PGVS team communicated the situation with district authority and others various stakeholders.
