It brings together volunteers and organisations from different countries, providing practical ASPEM support to humanitarian aid projects and contributing to strengthening the local capacity and resilience of disaster-affected communities. Participants in the EU Aid Volunteers initiative must be over 18 years of age and be a citizen of an EU Member State or a long-term resident in the EU. DESCRIPTION Fundación Munasim Kullakita, a Bolivian NGO, has been working since 2008 in the field of child protection, with focus on victims of sexual commercial exploitation and trafficking offering direct support to young people and facilitating their community reintegration. The volunteer will participate in the program for labor market reinsertion and reintegration, which aims to support the social reintegration process of the victims. The Foundation has a project for the insertion into the labor market, specifically into floriculture and candy leaf farming for honey production. The project location is the sub-tropical zone of the Department of La Paz, Municipality of Coroico, Community of Santa Rosa. In Santa Rosa, the Foundation will assist unemployed people that dropped the various institutional occupational programs by offering post-institutional programs. These programs offer unemployed people a chance to be reinserted into society and employment. They will be implemented in a community reintegration site in close contact with nature. The volunteer will alternate a week at the site and a week in the city of La Paz. In the city the volunteer will prepare the beneficiaries to enter the reintegration site, and coordinate the administrative actions and operations that will be developed. The volunteer will help the foundation reach the following results: 1. A post-institutional model for social reinsertion strengthened by occupational therapy actions. Living together with nature and production will help reintegrating teenagers and young people back into the community. 2. Reinforce the production of honey and its derivatives by promoting new markets for the sale of honey and generating new products based on the market trends in the department of La Paz. Operational details & security context: In Bolivia, commercial sexual violence against girls and female adolescents is not a new phenomenon; in recent years it has tended to grow and consolidate, since hundreds of children and adolescents, in motels and lodgings, on the streets and even in private homes, are victims of this illegal activity that systematically threatens their health and dignity. There are currently around 15 million people in the world in this situation and Latin America contributes a considerable number. Each year, it is estimated that one million girls and adolescents are added to this form of sexual violence. The causes of this phenomenon in Bolivia are complex, since the economic situation of permanent poverty to which the majority of the population is subjected, the processes of family disintegration, the lack of spaces for human growth and opportunities, the absence of recognition and respect for the identity and rights of children and adolescents. The situation is worsened by the violent, machist and consumeristic culture and the lack of economic and social policies for exploitation prevention, management, and social reintegration of victims. Social reintegration must be approached from different perspectives. That is why the volunteer will follow the guidelines of the programs delivered by the Government of the Department of La Paz, where the activities will be carried out Within this context, the Foundation has found a strategic and safe accommodation for the volunteer in the city of La Paz, Sopocachi district. The accommodation site is in a residential area with medical care centers, police stations, supermarket, cultural halls, entertainment facilities and 24-hours public transport. From the site the volunteer can fast and safely commute to the Foundation offices in the city of El Alto using the land-transport or cable-car network. In the Community of Santa Rosa, Municipality of Coroico the volunteer will stay in a building with a bedroom, a kitchen and all the basic services. The community reintegration site is four hours from the city of La Paz, and the volunteer will have here the adequate mobility to handle the coordination with the local institutions. The volunteer will receive all the necessary information upon arrival in Bolivia and accompanying in the first month of stay. This will help him/her understanding the transfer and work routines of the Foundation. Furthermore, the volunteer will receive training courses on the general context and the programs of the Foundation. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all countries in the world, including Bolivia. Santa Cruz and La Paz are the cities where the majority of cases is concentrated, but where the health response is better (they are the only cities at the level of Bolivia that have more than 3 hospitals of 3rd level and 20 hospitals of 2rd level). The cities of La Paz and El Alto as of August 06 have reported 19,575 confirmed cases, being at the national level the 2nd department with the largest number of cases after Santa Cruz (36,459). The department of La Paz has 3 hospitals of 3rd level, 10 hospitals of 2nd level, which are treating cases of COVID-19, as well as 10 private clinics that are performing this care. Volunteers will live in the city of La Paz, the city where the majority of the investments in the health system as well as in raising the people awareness in the use of biosecurity and physical distancing measures has been made. Given the health insurance they have and based on their home location (Sopocachi Zone, City of La Paz), volunteers will be able to access the hospitals and private clinics that have all the emergency care services such as Intensive Therapy Units, which are the Santa Maria Clinic, German Clinic, Rengel Clinic that are a few blocks from the place where they live, and at about 3 kilometers will find the Southern Clinic, Rainbow Hospital, centers for COVID-19 case care, as well as a variety of other clinics of other specialties such as ophthalmological and dental care are around where they will live.
