The welcome ceremony and briefing will be held in the hotel, during the presentation dinner. 14.05.2017 Llançà Cadaqués (Monday) A coach will take the rowers to the Platja de Llançà, which will be the starting point of the tour. The stage will take you to Cadaqués (around 20 km), rowing past the quaint fishing town of Port de la Selva and various beach coves to rest or explore including Port Lligat, Salvador Dalí’s birthplace. After lunch we will visit the fascinating Dalí Museum in Figueres, having dinner nearby, before heading back to the hotel. 15.05.2017 Cadaqués Roses (Tuesday) Rowers will travel a similar distance from Cadaqués to Roses, still around the impressive Cap de Creus. Main attractions include the Cala Montjoi – world famous spot best known as the home of the restaurant El Bulli - , or the Almadraba beach. We will be able to discover more regional attractions, heading to the amazing Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery, for another guided visit.

Furthermore, this article aims to analyse how to design and implement long-term public policies in place branding. The Pla de l’Estany district is one of the smallest in Catalonia and had its moment of splendour during the Barcelona Olympic Games, which positioned it as a place of natural beauty and sports tourism. However, twenty-five years later, we ask whether this positioning needs to be updated. This research deploys a methodological triangulation that combines in-depth interviews with opinion leaders, discussions in focus groups and an online survey open to citizens. This research presents three conclusions: it places the processes of citizen participation as a key element in the construction of territorial brands; refocuses the narrative of the territory of the Pla de l’Estany based on the concepts of “sustainable nature” and “traditional culture”; and conceptualises place branding not just from the perspective of promoting tourism, but also from that of fomenting sustainable governance.

    A CASE STUDY OF OLYMPIC, WORLD AND COMMONWEALTH SCULLING CHAMPION PETER ANTONIE A THESIS SUBMITTED IN PART FULFILMENT OF THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF ARTS, SPORTS HUMANITIES/MEDIA, DIVISION OF HEALTH, DESIGN AND SCIENCE, UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA ROBIN POKE AUGUST 2006 ii Abstract This thesis is a biographical case study of Olympic, World and Commonwealth sculling champion Peter Antonie, whose career at the elite or high performance level spanned some 23 years – from 1977 to 2000. The thesis examines the exploits of an oarsman and sculler regarded within his sport as one of Australia’s greatest ever, despite his being considered physically disadvantaged at every phase of his career. Antonie was, most notably, a man of small stature – widely considered a handicap at the level of rowing to which he aspired, and at which he ultimately succeeded. The study also examines what it was, despite those perceived disadvantages, that drove him to excel. The thesis further examines, in thematic form, parallel developments within Australian rowing and sculling in the quarter of a century in which Peter Antonie competed. This was a period during which fundamental changes were seen in Australian sport, notably in the areas of funding and administration, and which saw a transformation from amateur to professional participation at the Olympic, Commonwealth Games and world championships levels. There were also marked changes to high performance rowing as a result of technological advances that produced new types of equipment, and scientific developments that brought new training and selection methodologies. The research was carried out as part of a systematic attempt to examine and investigate Peter Antonie’s reputation, particularly as it compares with his better- known contemporaries, the so-called Oarsome Foursome, and to analyse that reputation in light of the administrative developments in Australian rowing and Australian sport.

It started just with the one-day package which was created by the Thomas Cook in 1841. Nowadays we are talking about different types of tourism, sense of travelling, the meaning of experience and even the variety of customer needs and profiles. Tourism aggregates diverse markets, activities and product: businesses and companies such as hotels, restaurants, airlines, attractions, travel agencies and tour operator and etc. As many elements tourism includes, as many tools and regulations it is require, and the crucial tool tourism needs is Marketing. The issue is that people were always selling things, having started with medieval barter and ended up with the genius infrastructure of modern trade. Marketing has been developing since 1450, when the first printed advertisement appeared. With time marketing went through the radio, TV and telephone. The the digital age presented us Internet, social media and e-commerce which nowadays help to the consumer pay attention on the variety of proposed goods. Plenty of private companies in tourism need marketing in order to improve their image, attractiveness, reputation and selling proposition. It is obviously, that with time marketers “changed the game”, because in tourism all internal and external factors affect a lot the process of management of the enterprise activities, its marketing and profitability.

    ICF CANOE MARATHON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS JUNIORS – UNDER 23 – SENIORS 23 – 26 SEPTEMBER 2010 1 st Bulletin March 2010 Banyoles – Catalonia -Spain WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS CANOE MARATHON JUNIORS – UNDER 23 – SENIORS The Spanish Canoe Federation has pleasure in inviting your Federation to be represented at the Marathon World Championships, for Juniors, Under 23 and Seniors to be held from 23th – 26th September 2010 in Banyoles, according to the ICF Official Calendar. The City of Banyoles Banyoles is situated half-way between the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees, and it is surrounded by zones of great historic and natural interest. Banyoles is located at 20 km from Girona and 120 km from Barcelona. The long history of Banyoles is reflected in its many monuments: the Plaça Major (thirteenth century), Santa Maria dels Turers (thirteenth century), Pia Almoina (fourteenth century), Llotja del Tint (fifteenth century) and the Monastery of Sant Esteve (various centuries). The Pia Almoina houses the Regional Archaelogic Museus, which contains important pre-history, archaeological and palaentologic exhibits. The Lake of Banyoles, together with surrounding satellite lagoons forms a unique natural zone which is internationally recognized. All the beauty of this natural landscape can be watched in Banyoles: the Joan de Palau lookout point situated in Puig d’en Colomer and the lookout point in Puig Sant Martirià. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS CANOE MARATHON JUNIORS – UNDER 23 – SENIORS Throughout the year it is possible to enjoy many public entertainment and fairs, some of which go far back in tie and are steeped in tradition, whereas others are of a more recent conception. From among the public celebrations, the most important is the “Festa Major” celebrated in October in honour of Sant Martirià.
