AN BEM 58 4C EN.Indd THE MRT PURPLE LINE PROJECT (BANG YAI - BANG SUE SECTION) Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) has been trusted and granted concession for investment and operation of the M&E Systems and O&M Services for the MRT Purple Line Project, Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section (Khlong Bang Phai Station - Tao Poon Station), by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) for a period of 30 years from the date of execution of the Agreement on September 4, 2013, which will be opened for service in August 2016. Description of the Project The MRT Purple Line, Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section, is an elevated railway system throughout the route, for the total distance of 23 kilometers, totaling 16 stations, namely, Khlong Bang Phai Station, Talad Bang Yai Station, Sam Yaek Bang Yai Station, Bang Phlu Station, Bang Rak Yai Station, Bang Rak Noi Tha It Station, Sai Ma Station, Phra Nang Klao Bridge Station, Yaek Nonthaburi 1 Station, Bangkrasor Station, Nonthaburi Civic Center Station, Ministry of Public Health Station, Yaek Tiwanon Station, Wong Sawang Station, Bang Son Station, Tao Poon Station, with Tao Poon Station serving as an interchange station between the MRT Purple Line and the MRT Blue Line. Details of the Route The MRT Purple Line, Bang Yai – Bang Sue Section, starts at Khlong Bang Phai Station where depot is located, the Outer Ring Road (West), Kanchanaphisek, turning left to Rattanathibet Road, crossing the Chao Phraya River around Phra Nang Klao Bridge, before reaching Khae Rai Intersection, turning right onto Tiwanon Road, turning left onto Bangkok - Nonthaburi Road until Tao Poon Intersection, with Tao Poon Station connecting with M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line Project (the MRT Blue Line, Hua Lamphong - Bang Sue Section) which in the future will connect with the MRT Blue Line Extension, Bang Sue - Tha Phra Section, and the MRT Purple Line Project, Tao Poon - Rat Burana Section. The MRT Purple Line Project, Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section, has 4 park and ride facilities, as follows: • Khlong Bang Phai Station; • Sam Yaek Bang Yai Station; • Bang Rak Noi Tha It Station; and • Yaek Nonthaburi 1 Station. ANNUAL REPORT 2015 1 Train There are 21 rolling stocks, 3-car train type, used in the MRT Purple Line Project, manufactured by Japan Transport Engineering Company (J-Trec). They are made of stainless steel, covered with vinyl, and are powered by the power system, loading power from the third rail of 750 VDC. Significant Description of the Train • 65 meters in length for 3-car train; • Possible maximum speed of 80 kilometers/hour; • Average speed of service of 35 kilometers/hour; • Passenger capacity per 3-car train (totaling 126 seats); • 6 standees/square meter: 921 persons/train; • CCTVs installed 4 points inside each car and 1 point in the driver cab. The 3-car train will be semi-permanently connected to each other. We can add the number of cars to be a total of 6-car train. The ATP/ signaling system and platform screen door system have been designed to be compatible with both 3-car train and 6-car train types. Opening Test Run Ceremony of the MRT Purple Line, Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section On December 14, 2015, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, presided over the Opening Ceremony for Trial Run of the MRT Purple Line, Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section, at Khlong Bang Phai Depot, as organized by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited, with high-ranking executives of both the public and private agencies participating the ceremony and welcoming all relevant public and private agencies in the ceremony. TRAFFIC DEMAND RISK FIGURE 1 : ACTUAL/FORECAST TRAFFIC Even though literature is rich about theory and practice of traffic forecasting, insufficient attention has been paid to the predicted accuracy of traffic forecasting models and the consequences of occurring errors.     CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 General Overview of Research Object 1.1.1 Light Rail Transit Figure 1.1 LRT Source : www.kabar3.com The Palembang Light Rail Transit (Palembang LRT) is an operational light rail transit system in Palembang, Indonesia which connects Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport and Jakabaring Sports City. Starting construction in 2015, the project was built to facilitate the 2018 Asian Games and was completed in mid-2018, just a few months before the event. Costing Rp 10.9 trillion for construction, the system is the first operational light rail transit system in Indonesia, and utilizes trains made by local manufacturer PT.INKA. The system's only line has a total of 13 stations (6 operational). As Palembang was to host the 2018 Asian Games, the project was pushed to be completed before the event began. Groundbreaking for the project occurred on 1 November 2015, with state-owned company Waskita Karya being appointed as the primary contractor following the issuance of Presidential Regulation 116 of 2015 on Acceleration of Railway Train Operation in South Sumatera Province. The contract, which was signed in February 2017, was initially valued at Rp 12.5 trillion. Construction was scheduled for completion in February 2018, with commercial service beginning in May 2018. However, the completion date was moved to June 2018 with operations beginning in July, only one month before the Asian Games. A test run was done on 22 May 2018 and was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on 15 July 2018. Operations for the LRT started on 1 August, several days before the Jakarta LRT began running, making it the first operational LRT system in the country.

Literatures and documents analysis was used to analyze this study. The result of the study were the MRT Jakarta project inevitably have negative and positive impacts both for society and environment. But with the start of the project after a long delay, it gives hope to the community for better transportation. It is a positive impact before the project was completed. Community engagement in a meeting or discusssion should more be em- phasized in the process in order to minimize the conflicts of interest.
