Disclaimer This directory is intended for guidance only. Whilst North East District council and the Area Community Regeneration project believe that the sources of information upon which it is based are reliable and that the information has been compiled with reasonable care, they do not accept any responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of the information contained in this directory. Foreword

he Community Resources Theme group is one of the four groups that form an integral part in the Clay TCross Area Community Regeneration Project. They commissioned the publishing of the Clay Cross Community Groups Directory to provide information to local residents and groups they can join in the area.

There are about 90 groups listed in this first edition of the directory and it is being distributed free of charge to all local homes (roughly 4,000 copies). The rewards are mutually beneficial. It will give the people of Clay Cross an idea of what groups there are locally, and the groups gain a welcome means of recruiting new members, the mainstay of their existence.

We hope you find this publication useful. It is intended to produce another copy next year.

If you are a group of people that meets and serves Clay Cross residents, and/or you are based in Clay Cross, and you want to be in next year’s directory. Please contact:

he Clay Cross Community Groups Directory has been commissioned by the Community Resources Theme Group, which is part of the Community TRegeneration Project. The Derbyshire Building Society, the European Regional Development Fund and the Learning Skills Council have each generously provided funds that have enabled this directory to be published.

Special thanks go to the Clay Cross Branch of the Derbyshire Building Society, who have taken an active interest in community development and other aspects of the Clay Cross Regeneration Project.

Thanks also to St Bartholomew’s Church members, who compiled the initial research upon which this directory was built, and our gratitude to the Reverend Matthew Barnes (who is also the Facilitator of the Community Resources Theme Group). The Directory Working Group This group consists of volunteers who have donated their own time to help collect and compile the information taken from the many numerous groups in the Clay Cross area, and have helped to create a directory that will be beneficial to the whole community. They definitely deserve the thanks of us all.

We would like to extend our special thanks to Jean Hamblin, Sonia Worthy, Jane Kinsell, Vicky Chinn and Kerry Green.

Photographs/Artwork The photographs and artwork for the front and back covers have been produced by Robert Roddis of the Clay Cross Photographic Society. Technical/Adminstrative Support Anthony Watts of the Clay Cross Area Community Regeneration Project has given the group technical and administrative support and advice. Group Co-ordinator Corinna Beatson the Clay Cross Regeneration Officer was the group co- ordinator for this project and has been involved in all aspects of its development.
