EVS Project Centre Europa Jove /European Youth Center EVS project Centre Europa Jove /European Youth Center Long term EVS: 10 months (October 2016-July 2017) Deadline for sending your CV and specific motivation letter: 15th of February EVS no: 2012-ES-160 (in renovation) Background: The Centre Europa Jove is a youth information centre about international mobility. We are working in the Barcelonès County, which means Barcelona and the four surrounding cities. This centre forms part of the Barcelonès city council and is working in cooperation with the town halls of Barcelona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Sant Adrià del Besòs, Badalona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The goals of the centre: - to inform young people about their possibilities to go abroad and about European mobility programs - to give young people all the necessary tools to be able to go abroad, from information to language training - to promote youth mobility and to encourage to take part in mobility projects as a resource for youth empowerment - to raise youth employability - to cooperate with different public and private agents that are active in the field of youth emancipation and work for and with young people Tasks of the volunteer: - participate in all activities of the Centre Europa Jove - participate and develop workshops about youth mobility programs - support the team in the online job tool - prepare and give language courses (English and native language) - support other local agents that are active in the field of youth information and youth emancipation, such as taking part in the development of intercultural days, organizing activities for young people etc. - help the Center Europa Jove to create youth mobility projects - the volunteer will be encouraged to propose other activities and will develop together with an other European volunteer a personal project. Number of volunteers hosted: 1 Profile of the volunteer: The volunteer must be an open person with interest in working with young people and in international mobility projects. The volunteer should feel comfortable taking part in and giving workshops. We welcome people with interest in organizing non formal training activities about their own culture and language. Some basic knowledge of Spanish or Catalan is needed. Practical information: Place: The EVS takes place mainly in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Badalona and Sant Adrià de Besòs (cities close by Barcelona and that are by metro easily reachable from Barcelona, where the volunteer will be living). The project involves local mobility which means that the workplace will be in a different youth centre on different days of the week. Duration: 10 months (beginning of October 2016 until the end of July 2017) Hours: The volunteer will be expected to work 30 hours/week. The working hours will be starting at noon until the evening (20h) Language training: The volunteer will receive Spanish classes and has the possibility to learn Catalan. Bratislava, Slovakia (21st – 25th August 2012) “Identifying the Employment and Population Centers at regional and metropolitan scale: The Case of Catalonia and Barcelona” Masip Tresserra, Jaume†∗ ABSTRACT: Nowadays, the urban structure of the metropolitan areas has led to a polynucleated structure, breaking with the paradigm of the monocentric city. The specialized literature has studied this polynucleated structure by identifying the centers that are within of these urban areas. According to this objective, many approaches have used in order to identify these centers (sub-centres): by analyzing the employment or population density and by studying the mobility flows. In this paper, the employment and population centers in Catalonia and in the Barcelona Metropolitan Region are identified by taking into account a new mobility approach, focusing on the flows of workers and people. In doing so, this study has carried out a dynamic analysis: from 1981 to 2010 in the case of identifying population centers and from 1991 to 2001 in the case of detecting employment centers at the time that the functional and the administrative boundaries of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region has also taken into account. Then, the influence of these identified sub-centres on the urban spatial structure is analyzed by estimating the evolution of polycentricity level and their influence on the urban hierarchy. The results by having this dynamic perspective (1981-2010) and (1991-2001) suggest: a more polynucleated structure of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region as well as the Catalan territory, an increment of the influence of the identified sub-centres on the urban hierarchy at the time that these identified centres are more dominant in terms of in-commuting flows, more self-contained in comparison with the sub-centres that are detected by using the standard employment and demographic density functions.
