NABB, Kathleen R. Nabb (Abstracted by courtesy of the Waycross Journal Herald Publishing, Waycross, Georgia June 5th, 2012) HORTENSE — Kathleen “Kathy” Roberson Nabb, 56, of Hortense died Sunday morning (June 3, 2012) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick following an extended illness. Born in Folkston, she was the daughter of Emory Roberson and Novis Roberson, of Hortense, and the late Corene Moody Roberson. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Emory Dale Roberson. She was a housewife who loved taking care of her family. She attended Sawgrass Philadelphia Wesleyan Church. Along with her father and step-mother, survivors include her husband of 40 years, Bobby Ray Nabb, of Hortense; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Maya Nabb, and Billy and Angela Nabb, all of Hortense; five grandchildren, Alexis Dybe, Corrine Nabb, Colleen Nabb, Shaun Fu and Austin Pap; a sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Joey Courson, of Hortense; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held this evening beginning at 6 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. R.C. Mathis and the Rev. Deryl Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Hortense Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Roberson, Dalton Courson, Keith Shed, Chris Shed, Travis Watts and John Glass. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at fryefh.com NABERS, Margaret Antionette Bowman Nabers (Abstracted by courtesy of the Waycross Journal Herald June 16, 2006) Margaret Antionette Bowman Nabers, 83, of Waycross, died Wednesday evening (June 14, 2006) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and lived in Waycross for most of her life. She retired in 1972 from Southern Bell as a telephone operator. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she and her daughter taught the 2- and 3-year-old Sunday school class for a period several years ago. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Her parents were the late Richard Dallin Bowman and Annie Cowling Bowman. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Robert M. Nabers Jr. of Waycross; one daughter, Robinette Nabers of Waycross; one brother, R.D. Bowman (Peggy) of Waldo, Fla.; one sister, Barbara Norris (Charles) of Valdosta; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests the Telephone Pioneers to serve as honorary pallbearers and they are asked to meet at the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for the service. NAIL, Joseph David Nail Sr. (Abstracted from information courtesy of Music Funeral Home, Lakeland, GA and Valdosta, GA 2 May 2018) Joseph David Nail, Sr., age 84, of Naylor, GA passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Fellowship Home of Nashville, GA. He was born on September 13, 1933 in Blount County, AL to the late Charles Nail and Ella (Clevanger) Nail. Mr. Nail was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph David Nail, Jr and Vince Nail. Survivors include his son & daughter-in-law, Gregory and Lisa Nail of Ellijay, GA; three granddaughters, Amanda Taylor of Valdosta, GA, Melissa Curenton of Columbus, GA, Lindsey Forsyth of Knoxville, TN; three great granddaughters: Reagan Taylor, Rebecca Curenton, and Morgan Curenton. He is also survived and preceded in death by numerous brothers, sisters, and extended family members. As per Mr. Nail’s wishes he will be cremated and no formal service will be held. NAIL, Roni Thornton Nail (Abstracted from the Waycross (GA) Journal Herald Newspaper) NAHUNTA — Roni “Dawn” Thornton Nail, 45, of Nahunta, passed away Monday morning (March 11, 2013) following an extended illness. Born in Flushing, Long Island, NY, her parents are Keith and Pearl Laverne Thornton Harrell, of Hortense. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alex Nail, and a brother, J. Stuart Hamilton Hancock. Dawn was a self-employed CNA. She loved to fish and was a wonderful cook. She had a big heart and loved her grandbabies and children. Survivors include her son, Alex Nail II, of Brunswick; her daughter, Ciara Nail, of Nahunta; two grandchildren, Maddox Nail and Isabellah Nail; her parents, Keith and Pearl Laverne Thornton Harrell, of Hortense; three brothers, Michael Hancock, of Yulee, FL, Paul Harrell, of Hortense, and Kenny Harrell, of Mustang, OK; five sisters, Pat Norman, of Sylvania, Shirlene Harrell, Kandy Cochran, Peggy Bollenbach, all of Kingfisher, OK, and Michelle Leary, of Hortense; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held Thursday at Frye Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hortense Cemetery. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. NAILOR, Joseph Eric Nailor (Abstracted from Valdosta Today 15 February 2021) 1 Joseph Eric Nailor, age 74, of Hahira, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021 at his home following a brave battle with cancer that he courageously fought for 9 years. He was born on March 25, 1946 in Troy, NY to the late Edward Francis and Mary Caroline Lazzaro Nailor. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1965-1967 in Army Intelligence and was stationed in NHA Trang Vietnam. Later, retired from the City of St. Petersburg, FL as a state certified building inspector. Joe was a loving husband to his wife, Theresa, and was known for his patriotism and his deep and abiding love for his country. He was a member of the American Legion Post 218, the Hahira Historical Society, Happy Traveler’s, and Hahira United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Theresa Nailor of Hahira; two daughters and a son-in-law, Eva Hare of Atlanta, and Cheryl Green and Mark Farris of Kings Mountain, NC; brother-in-law, John Lyons and nephew, Ed Lyons both of Troy, NY; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Lyons. A memorial service for Joseph will be at Hahira United Methodist Church. The committal will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Martin/McLane. NAILS, James L. Nails Sr. (Abstracted from the 1 May 2015 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) A graveside service for James L. Nails Sr., age 77, will be held Saturday in Hazzard Hill Cemetery. He was born May 12, 1937 in Pierce County, to the late Thomas Nails Sr. and Addie Sims Nails. He grew up in Waycross and in 1956 he entered the U.S. Army and separated in 1961 with an honorable discharge. He lived in Lake City, FL, for many years until his demise. He was in the home remodeling industry. He departed this life Friday (April 24, 2015) at Malcolm Randall V.A. Medical Center, Gainesville, FL, after an illness. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by three siblings, Thomas Nails, Henry Nails and Betty Armstrong. Survivors include his children, James White, of Waycross, Minster Tammy Nails-Fipps (Albert), of Tampa, FL, Dorothy (John) Roberson, of Miami, FL; Jasmine Nails, of West Palm Beach, FL, James Nails Jr., of the U.S. Air Force, Jamie Nails, of Miami, FL; Gary Nails, of Waycross, Angela White, of Jacksonville, FL, Mark White, of Victorville, CA, and Brett Nails, of Lake City, FL; sisters, Leona Sanders, of Punta Gorda, FL, Maxine Clark, of Winter Haven, FL, Mary Nails and Magalena Elam, both of Waycross; brothers, Robert Nails, of Montgomery, AL, Walter Nails, of Clayton, NC, and Calvin Nails, of Los Angles, CA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. NAILS, Tara Deloris Nails (Abstracted from the 10 April 2017 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Tara Deloris Nails, age 55, of Waycross, passed away Tuesday (April 4, 2017) in the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross. Affectionately known as “Nanna,” she was born April 6, 1961 in Waycross to the late Earline Thomas Smith and the late Henry Nails. She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Glynda Thomas and Henry Lee Nails Jr. She attended schools in the Waycross Public School System and was a 1979 graduate of the Waycross High School “Bulldogs.” She was employed by Walmart for 30 years. She loved God with all her heart and soul. She was a caring and dedicated youth leader. She made sure Bible verses and Easter speeches were learned by memory. She also established the Children’s Church curriculum which is currently being used today. She was the president of the Usher Board Ministry for several years where she served her church family and visiting friends with a smile. She was also a member of the Greeters Ministry, Daughters of Esther, General Mission Ministry and Progressive Club. She faithfully attended Sunday School where she was enrolled in the Christian Education Class. She leaves to cherish her memory three loving and devoted children, Keshia (LeVar) Garner, Michael Nails and Tetra Nails, all of Waycross; three adorable grandchildren, Ashante’ Robinson, Tyronica Boyd, KaDen Garner; her loving siblings, Terry Nails and Alesia (Frank) Gibson, both of Waycross, Dwain Nails, Atlanta, Carolyn (Emmett) Byrd, Columbus, Keith Nails, Atlanta, Dexter Nails, Smyrna, Latoya Nails, Vero Beach, FL, Amanda Smith, Columbus, MS, and Tarri (Dornell) Baker; one sister-in-law, Mary Nails, Raleigh, NC; her adoptive mother, Alma-Marie Nails, Waycross; and her godmother, Helen Walker, Waycross); a host of devoted god-children, nieces, nephews and cousins.
