Borefts Bier Festival 2012 Borefts Bier Festival 2012 September 28th and 29th Official Festival Program Page 1 of 27 Welcome Welcome at our 4th Borefts Beer Festival! Like last year we are having the festival at 2 locations. The first location is our beautiful historic Windmill. Both inside and outside you can find some wonderful brewers. The rest of the great brewers can be found on our second location at the new brewery. Both in and outside as well. So again there's no escaping in visiting both sites. The second location is just down the road. In total 15 breweries are attending this year representing 10 countries. We have over 140 beers that go from easy going session ales to powerful and complex. From very sweet to very sour. From refreshing light bitter to harsh and spicy. We will keep this introduction short because we know you won't read it anyway. Too much beers to try out there! Brouwerij de Molen and friends. Page 2 of 27 Beer & Food You can get all kinds of snacks during the day and in the late afternoon and evening there are meals available. Food is only available inside and in front of the old mill. Water At the entrance you received a bottle of water with your glass and tokens. During the festival we advise you to drink (also) plenty of water. This does not only prevent you from dehydration but it also cleans your taste-buds. Wine and sodas Not interested in the wonderful beers? Or are you the one that needs to drive after the festival? There's a bar where you can get a glass of wine, cola or other sodas. This bar is located in the tent next to the waterfront at the mill. Beershop A huge success every year. Therefor we have to put a maximum of 5 on the number of people in the shop at the same time. Cash payments, Debitcard PIN, Mastercard and VISA possible. It´s not possible to PIN cash in the shop. In the shop are beers available from the attending brewers but also many others and of course Brouwerij de Molen. Train information Leaving in the direction of Utrecht and Leiden: Every 15 minutes past the hour and every 15 minutes to the hour. For example: 16:15, 16:45, 17:15 and 21:45 until 00:45. Page 3 of 27 Floor Plan of the Mill (Overtocht 43) This is downstairs. There is an upstairs as well with lots of extra space to sit and also a WC. Note: there are only 5 customers at the same time allowed in the shop because otherwise we're afraid bottles might break or something else will go wrong. Page 4 of 27 Floor Plan of the Brewery (Doortocht 4) This is downstairs. There's an upstairs as well. Page 5 of 27 Beers by brewery Brewers sorted alphabetically after de Molen. Quivey's Grove 6261 Nesbitt Rd Fitchburg, WI 53719 www.quiveysgrove.com Welcome from the President AM PLEASED TO WELCOME YOU to the 31st Great Taste of the Midwest. Sadly, GTOMW has lost two of our long standing vol- unteer organizers since the last GTOMW. Both are well known by many people in Madison. IJamie Cowles, who was tasked with delivering enough ice to keep your beer cold during our event passed away this Spring. Many in Madison knew Jamie from Madison’s music scene. Tim Wong who coordinated bike parking at the even with the Bike Federation passed away earlier this summer. Tim was an advocate for bicycle and bus transportation (among other issues) and was well known to many who attend Madi- son city meetings. We don’t have many changes in store for you as far as the festival itself, the layout is largely the same as last year aside from a few small tweaks that you probably won’t even notice. Please remember this is a non-driving event. The best way to quickly exit the park is to utilize free shuttles or $1 Taxi- cabs (the only way to directly exit Olin Park after GTOMW) and when you pull out your wallet, don’t forget to tip your driver generously for getting you home safely. Please note that the taxi queue will be at the south parking lot, which is directly down the hill from where you entered the festival main gate.

The First Lady planted a garden at the White House and added some beehives. By planting this garden, she is promoting the concept of community gardens. With the bees’ honey, the US President brews his own beer: a Honey Brown Ale. Its recipe has been published by the White House, so that everyone has access to it and it is said to be not bad at all.
