Camp Leaders’ Day – Poynton – 24th June 2017
Venue: Poynton Baptist Church, Park Lane, Poynton, Cheshire, SK12 1RE.
How to get there
By car: Poynton is situated on the A.523, between Stockport and Macclesfield, at the junction with the A.5149. The centre of Poynton is ‘shared space’, where vehicles and pedestrians have equal priority. When you reach this area, turn into Park Lane (the main street opposite the parish church) and the church is on the right.
Parking: All car parking in Poynton is free, apart from at the railway station. There is a long stay car park further up Park Lane, behind Waitrose and adjacent to the library and the civic centre. The rear half of the car park is for long stay vehicles. There is a smaller car park adjacent to the church, but we ask that this is only used by leaders with mobility difficulties or who have equipment to take into the church.
By train: Poynton is on the West Coast mainline. The local service runs between Manchester Piccadilly station and Stoke-on-Trent, calling at Stockport and Macclesfield. Poynton station is about seven minutes’ walk from the church. Trains leave Manchester Piccadilly at 46 minutes past each hour, calling at Stockport at 56 minutes past each hour. Trains leave Stoke-on-Trent at 59 minutes past each hour, calling at Macclesfield at 21 minutes past each hour.
By bus: Service 392 – Stockport to Macclesfield via Poynton. Buses leave Macclesfield Bus Station at 45 minutes past each hour and leave Stockport Bus Station at 09:20, 10:50 and then at 50 minutes past each hour. Service P1 – Hazel Grove station to Poynton. Buses leave Hazel Grove station at 37 minutes past each hour.
By air: Manchester Airport is about twenty minutes’ drive away. We will ensure that someone is there to greet you.
Arrivals: Please make sure that you book in and collect your name badge. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available on arrival, but there are a number of outlets in Park Lane where you can purchase something more substantial if you wish.
Accommodation: Overnight accommodation can be provided in homes of church members. (Please make sure that you have indicated on your reply slip, if you need this.)
