It stars Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Mary-Louise Parker. The film tells the story of a Depression-era friendship between two women, Ruth and Idgie, and a 1980s friendship between Evelyn, a middle- aged housewife, and Ninny, an elderly woman. The centerpiece and parallel story concerns the murder of Ruth's abusive husband, Frank, and the accusations that follow. Saturday, August 31st at 3:00pm "Behind the Glamour: Film Production" While most of us associate actors with television and film, there’s a lot of technical work to get them onto our screens. Join us for the third installment of Reel Magnolias as we host film industry professionals working behind the scenes to make the stories we love reality. Panelists to be Confirmed Soon Tuesday, October 1st at 6:30pm Smokey and the Bandit Film Screening Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 American action comedy film starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Pat McCormick, Paul Williams and Mike Henry. The film follows Bo "Bandit" Darville and Cledus "Snowman" Snow, two bootleggers, as they attempt to illegally transport 400 cases of Coors from Texarkana to Atlanta. During their run, they attract the attention of Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Smokey), who pursues them on their journey. Saturday, November 16th at 3:00pm "Creating the Illusion: Location Scouting and Set Design” For a variety reasons, it's not always convenient for films and television shows to be produced where the stories actually take place.
