Itinerary for Robert Brown & wife & 17-year-old daughter December 27 to Jan 05, 2019 NOTES 1. All charges below are per private family or group (three people in this case) NOT PER PERSON. 2. Some clients prefer more guided tour days and less self guided independent tour days. These choices are made by the client based on their budget and travel preferences. The details of each event and day are provided in separate documents depending: guided tour or self-guided independent tour (see attached examples). December 27 (Thurs): Arrive Narita International T1 (North Wing) at 15:50 p.m. on Delta flight #275. To avoid rush hour it would be best to take the JR Narita Express (60 min) to JR Shinagawa Station and then a taxi from there to the hotel. Hotel: Andaz Tokyo. You would arrive at the hotel at roughly 17:30. Because of jet lag I always recommend that you go out for a few hours in the evening | night and go to bed as late as you can. 18:30-22:30 (with Mr Akira Mori: Cell: 080-6525-XXXX): 4-hour guided Roppongi night view and Mori Art Museum followed by the Sacred & Profane back lane Shinjuku walking tour. Charges: Yen 5,000 Digital A to B transfer (train first and taxi last) + Yen 31,000/3pax guided digital night foodie tour + basic expenses (casual inexpensive food on the go is recommended). December 28: 9:00-17:00 (with Mr Akira Mori: Cell: 080-6525-XXXX): A full day guided tour in the 12th century ambience of Kamakura (by the sea) including Japan’s oldest Zen temple complex, a great 2-3 hour hiking course that stops at Benzaiten Shrine, the magnificent bronze Buddha facing the sea, then stunning late lunch break in a 1920s private garden estate (lunch for less than $12/person), ending the day in a spectacular bamboo temple garden (Hokokuji Temple). Dinner experience: Gonpachi Nishi Azabu @ 20:30; walk to restaurant and back. Charges: Yen 45,000/3pax guided tour + basic expenses + Yen 5,000 for the dinner experience set up and instructions. December 29: 9:00-17:00: A full day in Hakone | Mount Fuji (crystal clear at this time of year!) in the form of self-guided tour (very easy and fun on Your Japan Private Tours Ltd. December 30 (Sun): 10:30-18:30 (with Mr Akira Mori: Cell: 080-6525- XXXX): A full day tour, pretty much one long and really amazing walk of the best of modern Tokyo: Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park youth culture viewing | Harajuku | Omotesando | Shibuya & Daikanyama (additional recommended or optional stops an owl café, the Harjauku Nike shop now trending, outstanding window and specialty shopping, and two incredible museums. Dinner: Guruva, Korean @ 20:00. Charges: Charges: Yen 45,000/3pax guided tour + basic expenses (lunch, taxi, entry) + Yen 5,000 for the dinner experience set up and instructions. December 31: Depart for Kyoto in the morning from JR Shinagawa Station @ 8:00 on Nozomi bullet train #303; arrive Kyoto @ 10:14; Yen 13,910/person; tickets will be sent to the Andaz for arrival on Dec 28 in the morning. Hotel: Westin Miyako. 11:00-17:00 (with Ms Sumiko Saito: Cell: 090-3704-XXXX): 6 hour guided tour of Kyoto: Show them how to use the Keage subway and go directly to Muromachi street and walk south to Shijo, then into the front of Daimaru and out the back and all the way down Nishiki to Shinkyogoku (into Tenmangu Shrine) then walk down river to Matsubara Street and all the way up to Kiyomizu and then back along Sannenzaka and Ninnenzaka to Okazaki and the Westin again (pass by the huge trees in front of Shoren-in and then Sanjo to the Westin Miyako again. Dinner: Pizza Salvatore Cuomo & Grill Kyoto @ 20:30. 21:45-12:30 am: 1. Take a taxi to the front door of the bell ringing temple (Shinnyodo Temple). 2. Line up to ring the bell. 3. Hang out a bit at the main bonfire. 3. Stroll south through Kurodani Temple to Heian Shrine where New Year 2019 will be in full swing from mid-night onwards. 4. Walk south on Shirakawa stream through Gion and to river and to Sanjusangendo Temple. 2. Then walk or taxi to Toji Temple antique flea market. 3. Lunch and brisk stroll in Saga Arashiyama district 4. End of the day near the hotel in the Heian Shrine Okazaki area. Dinner: Ramen meal at Fire Ramen just west of the enormous Nijo Castle complex (get there by subway and return on foot). January 02: 10:00-18:00: A great hiking experience that leads from Ohara (Sanzen-in Temple) to Kurama (possible outdoor hot bath break & lunch) and then over Mount Kurama to Kibune Shrine. January 03: 9:00-17:00: A full day in the amazing historical worlds of Horyuji Temple (the oldest extant wooden buildings in the world!) and Nara Park (one nice long stroll). January 05: Depart Narita International at 18:30; so you would have to be at the airport by 15:30; therefore, you would leave JR Kyoto Station at 11:56 (the bullet train) meaning a taxi from the ryokan at 11:00ish. If you feel rushed there are alternate trains leaving every 15-20 minutes.
